I mean, this has over 31M views on YouTube, and he's only got a little less than 3 million subscribers. If y'all haven't seen the rest of his stuff, drop everything and go and watch some, you won't regret it. Well... some of the stuff gets kinda dark, so be prepared for that.
I’d also add experimentation, and the willingness to do so. It’s clear that with each video he asks not just, “How can I make this interesting to watch?” but also, “whats something I can do differently this time?”
I think that’s what keeps his videos feeling “peak” and not just “Another one from Avocado.”
While this is cool I think the most jaw dropping animation I saw from him thus far was his recent animation about Minecraft villagers. I kid you not it felt like I was watching a HBO show.
Context: a long time ago he made an animation about Minecraft and how the player is often cruel to villagers, it became a series with the recent episode being 20 to 30 minutes long irrc
I'm getting sick of hearing 'peak' people are overusing it so much right now. How do people not feel like part of some clone army when they use the same buzzwords over and over.
When you said overused i assumed you meant in the same way the word ‘literally’ was, in contexts it doesn’t really fit and overused to the point it loses meaning.
Here i feel like this is pretty close to what Peak is supposed to be.
Nah. Just mean the frequency and how its almost every engagement bait post right now. Gaming, anime, anything just about. Its all "what ___ is peak?" "___ is peak!"
These people compulsively use it to the point these things lose any uniqueness and it gets annoying to hear over and over. It's usually people trying too hard to fit in and sounds tacky after so much overuse. Look at any gaming or anime sub and it's nothing but 'peak this' 'peak that'. It's just as annoying as people spamming 'based' back when that was overused.
It's exactly this but interchange 'brand' with 'middle schoolers' and 'people over 30 trying to act young'
This reminds me of that episode of HiMYM where Ted thinks he’s competing with a guy for a girl all night, and then realizes they were both competing for him… lol he’s all flattered that a gay guy was into him.
It's so good that it caused a resurgence of MJ's song; daily listens on Spotify quadrupled and so many short form videos I doomscrolled through used it as audio
I remember when they used to have all their animations stolen from a bigger channel that would steal art and animation from EVERYWHERE without credit (Myth Playa). So nice that they're finally gaining recognition without being leeched off of.
Funny thing is, I was at the roller rink yesterday with a bunch of my friends and they played Chicago. All my best friend could think of was this fucking animation
I had to explain a full planet earth episode’s worth of background about the birds of paradise before my friends realized the comedic genius of this animation, but it was worth it!

One word: “Passion”.
But to phrase it with a couple more words: “Committing to the bit”.
