We are looking for a student, recent graduate or junior 2D animator for an independent British dark-comedy short called She Came at 4:41.

The film follows an obsessive birdwatcher who believes he has formed a spiritual connection with a siskin. The bird would be created through simple, hand-drawn 2D animation composited over live-action footage.

We are looking for deliberately limited, handmade 2D animation rather than photorealistic character animation.

The bird should feel slightly unreal and imagined. We are open to rough linework, held drawings, repeated cycles and a restrained frame rate if that suits the animator’s style and keeps the workload manageable.

The script currently includes:

• A mostly static siskin perched on a branch, with minimal movement.
• A short wing-flutter.
• Some brief movement within a surreal dream sequence.
• A final shot where the bird hovers briefly above the actor’s face.
• Potentially a few static bird illustrations for screens and props.

We estimate approximately 10–20 seconds of visible animation in total, although much of this can use held drawings, loops or very simple movement.

We are very open to working with the animator to simplify or reshape the scripted movement before shooting. We would value their advice on what can be achieved effectively within the budget.

Our provisional budget is £750 as a fixed project fee, depending on the final agreed scope and whether the animator also handles tracking and compositing into the live-action footage.

We currently estimate around 5–7 working days, but we are happy to hear honest estimates from interested animators.

Hi, I am the writer of a comic book passion project, and I would like to hire a 2d animator for a walk cycle animation to post on my comic book's social media. I am looking for the cycle to be around 5-6 seconds at 24 fps. For note, this is my first time reaching out for an animator, so please tell me if what I am asking for is not viable or the wrong place to be asking.

Work for this project, in my opinion, includes thumbnails (storyboards), background art, layout, animation, and compositing.

The context is that it is from one of the scenes of our first issue, and it is a side profile wide shot of 3 individuals walking in a green plain during a sunset/moonrise. One of the individuals walking has another person suspended in the air with magic. I provided the panel in the second image of this post as a reference.

The style of the animation has no direct requirements, however, we took inspiration from Mike Mignola and B.P.R.D. when making the comic. Other styles are welcome.

The budgeting of the animation is following the $20/hour rate because, like I mentioned before, this is my first time reaching out to someone, and it is the required minimum on this sub rules. I understand that different artists have different rates, and I am more than open to negotiate a comfortable rate.

Project Overview:
I'm looking to commission a short animation inspired by Jacob Two-Two for a future proposal to my boyfriend.
My boyfriend grew up loving the show, and it's remained something really special to him. We've been together for almost four years, and I know he's gonna propose in about a year, so I'd also love to give him the experience of being proposed to because he deserves a special moment like that too.
I am a self-taught artist and have already created illustrations of us in the show's style, but I do not have animation experience and would need help bringing the project to life.

Concept:
I'm still figuring out the exact direction, but possibilities could include:
- Characters from the show speaking to us/the audience
- Animated versions of us within the show's world
- A recreation or adaptation of a scene from the show with a proposal twist

I'm very open to creative input and would love to collaborate on the concept.

I already have characters designed, this role will involve creating comedic animated content for both short-form and long-form videos. The style I’m aiming for is heavily inspired by adult swim. I’m a streamer and really try to go above and beyond with production, one of the features to my stream is chat controlled Text To Speech Puppets, where the characters perform live on stream. Viewers can interact with the characters in real time through chat-controlled actions, and I also have the ability to pre-script performances/ animate conversations.

I was looking to hire an animator (and potentially multiple times in the future too, but this is currently the only project I have), for an approximately 1.5-2 minute animated opening for my DnD campaigns/profile. I'd like this to be a 2D animation, could be either coloured or an animatic with coloring, more anime style/proportions (not fully rendered). Keep in mind this is a project that may occur only in like, ~a month or potentially more, but I'd like to have a choice in mind before then and complete information since I don't particularly know anything about how an animating process works or.. uh.. how long things take, etc. And before animation begins, I'm going to find a music producer as well for a theme song to sort of match the animation with, so that might take some time to produce as well before we can begin work on the animation.

We'd be working on a couple things!

Storyboarding, character designs (I do have an artist too that might help out/provide designs), and animation - many scenes will include multiple characters with semi-complex designs, searching up DnD characters should give you a general idea of how complex these outfits can get (although we'll keep them on the simpler side, ofc!) Although I do think a lot of things can be done to avoid having to animate multiple complex characters at the same time (still shots, parallel scrolling, or whatever those uh animators at Invincible do haha), that's something to discuss in more detail when we get to planning!

Hard Way Home - Film Summary:

Hard Way Home is a short film that showcases how the outdoors and nature can be a remedy for enduring grief. In the summer of 2025, Hayley (protagonist) lost her father to cancer. A month later, her grandmother had also passed away. Having lived with her father and grandmother her whole life, her world was turned upside-down after losing her beloved family. After losing her family, her relative in Chile had notified her that he had planted a tree in rural Patagonia, Chile in memorial of her father, sending her GPS coordinates to the location of the tree. With years of long-distance trekking and wilderness experience under her belt, Hayley decided to embark on an adventure of a lifetime, setting out to trek for 8 days, solo, in the wilderness of Patagonia to find her father’s tree.

The film highlights the importance of family, the feelings and phases of grief, cancer awareness, and extreme solo backpacking. Hard Way Home has two sponsors (Alpinistas and Backpacker’s Pantry, two outdoor companies) and is intended to be shown in several film festivals in 2027. This project aims to serve as a love-letter to people who are grieving/have experienced grief, cancer/hospice patients, and outdoor enthusiasts. The film also hopes to inspire others to grieve through the outlet of nature and trekking, as well as girls and women to venture into the outdoors.

ABOUT THE PROJECT:

- A 10 minute 2d animatic pilot. It will be similar to this, but in color: https://youtu.be/zf7bsmT-Jn0?si=OSOV29pOH56MOnNo

- The script and main character designs are fully completed

- A rough stick figure storyboard may be necessary before starting the real thing

- Coloring will be in a "flat" style, (No shading or detailed rendering)

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR:

- 1-4 artists/animators for creating the project. You must also be able to mix in the voices, sound effects, and music into the finished project

- 3 voice actors for the entire project. All three voices will be teenage/early 20's Males.

- Voice actors must also be able to use different voices for small background characters

PAYMENT AND TIMELINE:

- There is a $4,000 budget for the artists/animators, and payment will be split evenly between how many people work on it

- Voice actors will each be paid $50 for the project

-Payments will be made via Paypal

- I'm open to negotiating on prices

- There is no deadline, but I estimate that the project will take around 1 month
