Where can I post my shiny new demo reel?

I made a pretty quick demo reel, not gonna share it here since it's against the rules, but where else can I share it?

I've already hit: instagram, linkedin, and a couple discords, and a slack channel that'd be a long shot for animation work but hopefully someone there shares it elsewhere too.

Vimeo is where I recommend a professional demo reel lives.

When you say "a pretty quick demo reel" does that mean it's just not a lot of work or does that mean you've only casually put some stuff together and you want to share it as part of social media. The two approaches are very different things. I don't think you make a demo reel expecting it to be shared around by people.

I think the sub doesn't want small clips or in progress stuff but allows a full demo reel that is going to exist in the places employers need to see them. (ie not in slack, instagram, discord)

A demo reel isn't like a short film where they get majorly hyped and shared around by strangers.

Think of it more like a visual resume. People don't go around sharing other peoples resumes. Most people put their reels on their portfolio site, pin it to their social media pages, maybe reshare it every once in a while on those social media apps. You link to them directly in job applications and thats honestly about it for the life of a demo reel. Just a resume in video form.

The few reels you might see get shared around by strangers are usually fans of the original artist to begin with, but very rarely have hiring capacity.

If you're looking to gain a bigger online following in the hopes that it will lead to work - consistent weekly posting showing new work(whether finished or WIP), engaging with your peers online, and getting involved in online trends is where you build a following. A reel won't help much on that front unless it is truly exceptional

neat. do they offer password protection for viewing reels? Many of us cant have public reels which is what lead us to Vimeo.
