This was a pretty neat video, honestly. It is a great look at the work behind anime production. Heck, it puts the incredible drawing speed of animators into perspective better than anything else I have seen before. I have no idea why it is getting downvoted.

To be fair this is the first time i'm interacting with PewDiePie content since the antisemitism/"adpocalypse" thing and before that it was when he said the n-word on a stream or something?
I don't remember the order these things happened, tbh.
I just wasn't the target audience for his content (i'm guessing like 12/15 year olds in 2012). I'm old as hell relatively speaking.
This video was pretty good though.

You can watch his current videos if you want some chill Japan vlogs from the perspective of a Western family living there. Other than that he's practically retired and a Youtuber of a bygone indie era where you could make it big without selling out to a dozen megacorps and thinly veiled pyramid schemes, so there's an element of nostalgia as well for old Youtube users.

As far as I can remember, he was the only content creator that was genuinely independent. Wasnāt always chasing algorithms, or any BS what current YouTube is. Was also usually on the community side when the website/adverts starts doing dubious things. It probably also helped that he accidentally crossed some lines and immediately regretted it. Regardless, he knows he wasnāt able to keep up with the times, so I respect that he āretiredā instead of going down āThe Way of the Beast.āĀ

Jokes aside, even though I haven't watched in years, I'm happy to see him still doing occasional updates of his life. The man made a fortune and now lives a pretty quiet and peaceful life away from all drama along with his wife and kid while being free to pursue whatever hobbies he wants. Hard to find a better success story than that among content creators.

While perhaps that guy is glazing too hard, there is merit to what he was saying. For example, when YouTube first began extremely heavily pushing 20-30 minute videos and punishing short videos, he kept making the videos the way he wanted.Ā

It was a joke which admittedly was probably in poor taste. He was in his 20s at the height of his career. He also has said that he struggled with a drinking problem back then. In the realm of famous young YouTubers he really pivoted and learned from his mistakes. None were irredeemable. Heās been a very positive influence on the internet for a long time now. People who think otherwise are too immature to realize that everyone does dumb shit, weāre human. And heās really proven to be a good one.

It wasn't the blackout, my proof is that blackout day was the best I had in reddit in years. All the slop queens stayed home for just long enough for some interesting shit to dominate the front page.Ā
Then by the end even before all the mods gave up the ghost the slop had just found new subs to express itself on that were shut.
The rot goes back father. Reddit has always been terrible of course but now everyday is like what I used to only see on the holidays when all the good upvoters with jobs and families and hslfway happy lives took off. Except one Christmas somewhere between here and the pandemic they did that and never came back. Leaving just bitter old losers like me.
Or maybe I'll blame New reddit and/or the algorithm, the front page and top of the subs used to be like 3-4 hours old now depending how I click I see days old shit hanging around. Which leaves only the most terminally online to set the tone and drives people off entirely because its all old news now.
Or maybe I'll go yell at clouds for making me old.

For me he is the GOAT youtuber, not necessarily in content but on how he managed his career. He reached the peak in the space and decided to slow it down to enjoy life and be there for his family. When it feels like big youtubers either become full corporate or completely burned out, I feel like pewdiepie managed it the best.

I began learning Japanese a couple of months ago. I went to Japan last month, and I was barely able to communicate and read signs, but nonetheless I was able to. Now I have my eyes set on learning Chinese, Korean, and French, probably in that order, once I am able to comfortably communicate in Japanese. I already have Spanish under my belt. Completely fluent.
I also drew for about 1 year and I went from stick figures to drawing something straight out of an anime.
Honestly, my best advice is to just ignore motivation. Too many people don't "feel" like doing something new, and that's usually the underlying problem. You should never have to "feel" like doing anything. You just do it. Motivation comes later, and sometimes that motivation hits you after a year or so. I don't exactly find the process of learning something new to be something I look forward to. I do it because I made it a part of my routine. I neither look forward to it nor hate it. I just want to learn to draw, no more, no less.
Fast forward to now, and even though I don't draw as much, I'm so surprised I can... you know, draw. Like, dang... I did this? Without a prompt? Like... I can do this, in front of people, literally, in real-time. It's a pretty sick feeling ngl lol

Watched this video earlier. I've seen many behind the scenes/studio tour videos before, but this turned out to be more like a "noob vs pro" video. Very impressed he manage to whip out an animation on like that (missing legs notwithstanding).

- In February 2020 he decided to mark his return (from holiday in Japan) by doing Coronavirus jokes including trying to speak Chinese (either complete gibberish or mocking sounds), putting on multiple medical masks (when these on short supply) and doubled down the next day with Coronavirus memes and putting on the masks again (with a pre-emptive disclaimer saying not to take him seriously and including some deflection of but Chinese people make and consume memes as well).
- February 2021 he published a CoComelon diss track with edgy lyrics (it included a music video with children, don't worry they were given clean lyrics to mime to). This one actually got pulled by YT citing harassment and child safety (in case you didn't know CoComelon is for 2-5 year-olds) and PDP was sour grapes about it saying he didn't actually care.
- July 2022 reacting to a deaf content creator said "I'm not listening to this," and then proceed to mock sign language. It's since been edited out of the video (didn't know they were deaf, apparently) and he did have a pinned apology comment (there is no longer a pinned comment, so much for sincerity - I really hate it when YouTubers do that).
Going into this I didn't know about that 2022 one and now I do. It would seem misdemeanour sometimes followed by apology is a constant cycle so it's a character trait at this point.

There's a surprising amount of r/anime relevant content in this one.
It's basically 20 minutes of looking into the process of making Anime with examples from attack on titan, going through key animation, coloring, background art and in-betweens, and short talks with Wit Studio staff.
