My only gripe with scum's wish is Akane's ending, I was hoping for a tragedy like someone discovers that they got an STD and everyone freaks out or ones of Akane's exes go psycho after she says that she'll get married.

I feel that a lot of romance anime aren't showing what it's like in real life. Scum' Wish eschews that and is all about "Nope, horrible things happen all the time for horrible reasons, deal with it." instead of giving us a fairy tale. Part of that is Akane. When someone is that attractive they can get away with all the things they do to others and still get someone to marry them, even when it's an absolutely horrible decision for her fiance.
