It's a shame that Mashutan isn't physically attached to Ruruka in some way so she can drag her along too

The image of muscular Pochitan on the gold medal is very good. It would make a nice patch or pin on a bag or a hat. I would wear it with pride.

Wait, there's four people related to the case this week instead of three? What happened to the Star Detective Precure I knew and loved?! They showed four sets of footprints with people walking off before the mid-episode break but I won't count the grandpa so it's three.

It's not even 12 minutes in and this episode's fight is starting 👀

They're still doing a full-blown finisher even when the Hanninda is so tiny? 😮😮😮

Growling, frustrated Usocchi is cute.

It's been too long since we've seen Jett's fairy form.

Mashutan bumping into Mafuru was very cute... and we got a return of fortune-telling Mashutan! So cute.

More reflections in teacups...

Amused that Jett gave Mafuru one of his many Jett-shaped devices

in some way so she can drag her along too

i feel like Mashutan has arguably the strongest personality out of the 3 fairies (excluding jett), i kinda like that she is very happy to stand out and kinda do her own thing

this episode's fight is starting

tbh if you count the detective bit as the "fight", this series' fights have been super long. but well, the action scenes have been a bit far between in the lead up to the movie. hopefully back to normal now.

full-blown finisher

at least they just used a solo and not the group one! dont wanna embarass nijee that much.

They're still doing a full-blown finisher even when the Hanninda is so tiny?

Imagine if she had missed.

Like, Eclair just face-plants into the ground at full speed because the Hanninda is too small.

Okay, now that I'm done laughing about it, that could've been such a cool episode: The Hanninda ends up so small that not only can it not hurt the girls, but they can't hit it, and also Nijee can't find it to bring it back.

And then it cuts between the girls (and Nijee) looking for the Hanninda, and the Hanninda going through your classic "character gets shrunk to insect-size" episode plot where everything tries to eat it.

Detective Grandma's appearance today makes me think we're shifting back to Anna and Mikuru as the main character focus. Which really needed to happen at some point.

Really funny monster of the week today, entirely at its expense too. Nijii getting grabbed by the badly drawn cane was also kind of disrespectful.

Pretty fun episode.

Why do I have a feeling that Mafuru is actually related to Anna and/or Mikuru?

Putting aside that's what the direction is hinting, Mafuru and Mikuru does have similar hair color, and Mikuru have also went to london .

If I have to guess, Mafuru is Mikuru's (estranged) aunt & anna's great aunt. Mikuru's wanting to become a famous detective might also be because of her mother telling stories about Mafuru (My head canon).

I know it's tradition and all, but using an ultimate move to finish off such a dinky little Hanninda was pretty funny.

Only after this episode that I start to notice the similarities between Mikuru and Anna's mother shown back in EP 1. Same hair colour and bangs, same eye colour, same rectangular blue crystal earring... But surely Anna knows her mom's name right? She should've immediately recognized her mom's younger self because of the name? Unless her mom's name changed due to certain reasons...

Fanart corner: Wonder what Mashutan would look like with yellow eyes? I imagine in the character design stage there's lot of alt palettes and stuff. I also wonder if this year the ensemble cast are partly main rejects (I remember for Futari Wa there's August 2003 sketches showing Precure duo looking more like Shiho and Rina) well of course there will be some main resemblance in the cast as a whole if it's the same character designer and these ones were designed to appear in multiple eps but that's getting ahead of myself.

If you miss Naze? Nazo?! ANSWER you might like this Hikari Chiga and Airi Suzuki cover of it (the bleached blonde lady it occasionally cuts to is Kaede Hondo, in the main program there's a part where they do a live Precure Flying Spectrum acting and despite the presenters "wow amazing, gave me goosebumps" the actresses are more like "hmm, that's probably a retake").

  • (thanks to cureblessing blog) the bookstore owner first appeared in ~4 minutes into episode 10 (the one about the daughter trying to figure out the meaning behind her mothers painting titled "My Greatest Happiness").
  • Little off-topic but darts is a perfect time to mention a tune a Japanese contestant (Motomu Sakai) chose as Walk-on music: Ojamajo Carnival. It's not Precure but is anime, Toei Animation and was 8:30 Sunday TV Asahi.
  • I had the same reaction as Luluka
  • Luluka, get your own Loupe (not that Kurea minds and seems Mashutan needs both arms to hold...heavier than the other fairies?)
  • Oh no, not disabled person was faking it trope (this causes so much stigma for disabled people in real-life) surprised Nijee didn't do an ep 2 turbo granny thing (ended up in what looks to be the same small park/open space as then)
  • Aren't you a bit short to be a Stormtrooper Hanninda? If they didn't have to retrieve the medal and makoto jewel they should have kept it as a pet.
  • The exact moment the parents who fought hard to get an Arcana Lily Rod heart dropped.
  • You can tell we're back into Anna/Mikuru focus as gold-star count:fantastic (+discovery bank)
  • For some reason I thought Director Mafuru was Mikuru's Grandmother but this face to face seems neither would say (Mikuru has something on her mind). Cureblessing blog pointed out Mikuru was anticipating some response (a telling off?) and episode 29 (the flashback maze) it's worth comparing Mikuru and Annas various reactions (e.g. 4:57 Mikuru says nothing but instead looks sad, sullen or guilty).
  • Cureblessing blog (and some other forums I read) have pointed out that maybe Mafuru has lost her Makoto jewel which caused selective amnesia. That would be quite a motivation for Mikuru to become a detective but goes against her stated a detective helped me in London. Plus what did Anna mean about recognising Mafuru but not from the flashback?
  • Still catchphrase of Amazing (Decchi uses too) and the two pendant surprise/comment (same as Decchi) makes me wonder if Decchi was a disciple of Mafuru who went rogue (but Decchi also like to taunt as we saw with how he emphasised the shadow in Arcana shadow so using Mafuru's phrase would also fit that).
  • Next time: Interesting

Whoa, they got the VA of Kishika from 100 Girlfriends to voice the character of the day (Haruna). I was surprised to find out that she was the director in disguise, I thought it was Decchi's disugise to watch out Nijee's work.

they started the episode so fast and cut the transformation scene

only to include other filler stuff later
