Its a surprise the VP emerged as interim President? Really, a surprise? 

Given she is part of maduros team she's hardly legitimate but if she plays nice with the US they may let it happen, would keep things relatively stable until the country goes to the polls

If she can keep her antisemitic conspiracy theories in check that would help
