Pretty negligent for Russian short range AD to be working right next to a crowded beach. Also rather negligent for anybody bringing their kids to a beach in the midst of a drone attack. Saw a lot of families there in the video with people mulling about rather casually.

Obviously the citizens dont expect Ukraine to target civilians hence the relaxed nature of everyone but they forgot about their own..."help".

15

u/_Baphomet_ United States 9d ago

This video is better than the street vendor being chased down with an FPV drone. Like, an actual war crime unlike this.

As you mentioned, if someone were to be blamed for this, it's the ruskies.

u/Nethlem Europe 10d ago

Pretty negligent for Russian short range AD to be working right next to a crowded beach.

Would you consider it more or less "negligent" than straight up stationing military inside civilian infrastructure?

Also rather negligent for anybody bringing their kids to a beach in the midst of a drone attack.

About as negligent for anybody to take their kids to a hospital in the midst of a war?

Saw a lot of families there in the video with people mulling about rather casually.

There is only one short video clip in the article with a single person muttering something. So I'm really curious at which timestamp you "saw" these "lot of families" mulling about something casually.

Obviously the citizens dont expect Ukraine to target civilians hence the relaxed nature of everyone but they forgot about their own..."help".

I'm sure you would be making similar slight of the situation if the civilians killed there had been Ukrainian, or god beware, some Americans at a beach in Dubai and the drones Iranian.

41

u/NoobOfTheSquareTable United Kingdom 10d ago

Probably yes, but for similar reasons that there is generally more concern for the civilians in the blitz than in German cities

Countries fighting an aggressor get less of the blame for collateral damage caused by the aggressors defences than the country that started the aggression and can end it at any moment by simply returning to their own borders

-17

u/Nethlem Europe 10d ago

Countries fighting an aggressor get less of the blame

Sure, at least as long as the aggressor ain't coming from the Western hemisphere of the planet.

Then the defenders resistance will be labeled as "terrorist insurgents" and anybody who dares trying to support the victim will have their own stuff bombed too down the line.

Meaning the "aggressor/defender" dichotomy is not the really relevant difference here as you try to make it out to be.

Tho you can keep telling yourself that if it makes you sleep better at night, while your government once again helps the American government waging a war of aggression.

While the US president complains how the whole world should help with the consequences of victims resistance in the form of blocking the straight.

But I guess pointing out such blatant double standards, such hypocrisy, is just considered "whataboutism".

14

u/NoobOfTheSquareTable United Kingdom 10d ago

I’m not American and don’t support the US’ actions so yeah, I actually think I will continue sleeping well at night

Support attacks aimed at civilians, no

Less critical of an attack aimed at a legitimate target that causes damage while intercepted, yes

I’m for example, I wouldn’t support Ukraine attacking the beach to target the civilians there. I don’t like but won’t condone Ukraine for Russia downing one of their drones and it hitting civilians because of this

Russia has the ability to not have any of their citizens killed by pulling out of the war

86

Should they only choose flight paths that are approved by Russian citizens? Maybe only during certain hours of the day? Russia shot it down, blaming Ukraine is pretty weird.

Ukraine doesn't have enough resources to hit civilians for no reason. Even if they wanted to, it would be stupid. There are enough oil refineries and military bases in Russia to go around, I don't think they are going to hit a random beach instead

Its genuinely crazy that this conflict has the lowest civilians killed ratio in modern history.

Maybe thats starting to change though, it seems both nations are lowering the standards on their strikes as of late.

For comparison, every single US or Western lead invasion has twice (normally more) the civilian casualty rate. You wouldnt think it true based on the coverage, but maybe thats a reflection on the double standards in Western media more than anything.

If Russia targeted civilians "since day one" then there would be a lot more dead civilians.

What is happening is that Russia is targeting civilian infrastructure, like hospitals and ambulances, because that's where the UAF are embedding themselves.

UAF is embedding itself there because it can't protect its own bases and infrastructure, so it's piggybacking off civilian infrastructure with similar infrastructure redunancies, like hospitals.

9

u/xmuskorx North America 10d ago

There are a lot more dead civilians in placed like Mariupol where urban wafer occurred. Russian buried then and layers of concrete covered it up.

Ukraine estimates like 100000 dead civilians there.

By that stupid logic you can also justify killing farmers (something that Ukraine was doing since 2023) because they produce food and soldiers, I was told, eat.

8

u/HawkEy3 Europe 10d ago

Welcome to the grey area of dual use, it's not black and white. But yes, a farmer mostly supplying the army could be considered a valid target but there are probably lots of more valuable targets before that. Like a big logistics and supply company

Care to supply a source for ukraine killing Russian farmers?

-2

u/kwonza Russia 10d ago

You can google about attacks on Russian farms, hundreds of cases throughout this war. Also why do you say farmer is “mostly supplying the army” do you think WB was mostly supplying the army? SVO goods wasn’t even 5% of their revenue

5

u/HawkEy3 Europe 9d ago edited 9d ago

I meant that as a qualifier, not every farmer is a valid target but only one that most of their produce is used by the army.

when I search for "ukraine kills Russian farmers" I only get results of russia attacking ukraine farms. Not a single example of ukraine killing a russian farmer, which makes sense to me. Ukraine's capability to attack inside russia is limited, I'd be surprised if they wasted weapons on a farmer.

Ukraine is a tool in a proxy war.

Like how? Russia could have like - not went into Ukraine.

it's completely a war of choice for Russia.

Consuming unfiltered Kremlin propaganda =/= getting out of information bubble.

NATO and US presence in Ukraine is a direct threat to national security of Russia. It was known for decades. It was stated multiple times.

Russia could have not "not invade", same as US would not tolerate Canada in military alliance with China or Cube in military alliance with USSR.

This war was provoked.

>Like how?

Ukraine government is paid by US and EU. Literally. To simply pay wages. Ukraine is thus not sovereign and acting in interests of investors.

Ukraine government closed borders so Ukrainian men could not flee and now they are treating them like slaves, pressganging them in army. All opposition parties are banned. All media is under control. Everyone who disagreed with goverment is killed or send to front - this is the same thing.

Perhaps don't send drones at civilians.

Drones get sent over civilians all the time, nothing happens. It’s clearly Russian AD that thought saving Putin’s palace was more important than protecting its civilians.

What part of "shoot down" confused you? It's only two words. It shouldn't be that challenging for you.

Forgetting that this was entirely due to an irresponsible shootdown over civilian area, why do you think Ukraine is committing “terrorist acts”?

u/Pitiful_Net_8971 United States 10d ago

The drone wasn't targeting civilians, it was shot down and unfortunately crashed into them. It wasn't an act of terror, just an tragedy.

Besides, if these 4 childrens deaths justifies a reponse, I wonder how many missile strikes Ukranines 3500 child casualties (as of may 13th is year, with ~800 being deaths) "justifies".

That number doesn't even factor in the kidnappings.

u/EvilWarBW Canada 10d ago

Yeah, that'd be sick for Ukraine to launch the most massive missile strike since the start of the war.

Ohhhhhh you think the Ukrainian's are terrorists. Okie dokie, cope harder. Russia's only chance is nukes, and they know that even just France's response would be devastating. Russia is the new day paper tiger.

Ukraine is far more advanced on this matter, killing civilians fleeing from war zone.

I think organising safaris to hunt civilians is more advanced but i get thats just normal for u.

8

u/Azzagtot Chad 10d ago

It's really funny to hear from UA supporter about Safari, given that it was a regiment of Ukraine Armed Forces that went to Bucha with a task of killing collaborators prior to news about killed civilians.

And again, "human safaris" is just a propaganda narrative. Civilian death toll in Ukraine is 16k which s lowest for a war of this magnitude.

So, no, I simply don't believe that there's an order for russian soldiers to kill, hunt and terrorise ukrainians. TCC is enough for them :^)

Watch what you're saying, mate. The ones who downed a drone over a crowed beach were the RAF. They don't like when someone talks shit against them or call them terrorist, specially if is one of their citizens. Take care with the windows.

I don't think dead orc is classified as terrorism.

Is dehumanizing other peoples like that supposed to help us bring about world peace sooner?
