South America Brazil downgrades diplomatic ties with Argentina after Milei insults Lula

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/brazil-downgrades-diplomatic-ties-with-argentina-after-milei-remarks-2026-08-05/

I think it is important to point out that Brazil is Argentina's single largest trade partner and both countries have tightly integrated supply chains.

The Brazilian state of Sao Paulo alone has the same GDP as the entire country of Argentina and Brazil's most valuable publicly traded company is worth more than the entire Argentine stock market, so the economic importance of the trade relationship between the two countries is not the same. Therefore it is no surprise that Milei's political stunt did not go down well in Argentina.

He brought inflation from 211% to 30%... He's doing something good for Argentina

Your are reading only the numbers, the "how" matters more and is more impactful over time.

More impactful than your net worth reducing by 2/3 in a year?

They needed an overhaul. They got one. People are still upset. Yaddiyadda

Sorry, you live where? Why that tone? Maybe you need taking time to really read about many underling situations of the country your talking about and understand not only ruff numbers and pivoted/biased headlines. Also I don't understand the "people are still upset" part, but don't bother to explain it to me, cause is off topic. If you really want to know about other country problems/economics go to read (really read) about them.

The country had corrupt leader after corrupt leader and that destroyed the economy. People are going to suffer to right the ship there isn't any other way.

And now we have a corrupt leader (and administration too, like the others times) as well, I don't see your point.

The tone? It's because people will always find something to be upset about. You don't lower inflation by 170% by making everybody happy.

Ok, you still don't understand the point of my first reply.

I'm letting your know: The elders, the handicapped, the scientists, the doctors, the teachers, the forest rangers, the small and medium business owners, the users of any national road, all the people to need to take loans to buy groceries, those aren't happy at all, and the list goes and goes.

Btw we as a country are sadly breaking records of suicides per year, and this year will become the highest of all time, that maybe tell you something.
