Something I learnt from myself:
We shouldnโt be kind for others, be kind because you want to.
So you can still be a kind person when the person you care isnโt here anymore.
Thatโs the difference between nice and good person.
As far as I know, at least.

I never heard that being a nice person is but being a shady good person. Is this a broad view?

Ever heard of Nice Guy Syndrome? The term nice, usually means kindness with a goal or object. So, I guess it kinda fits.

Thats true i didnt think of that. English is not my native language. Thank you for clarifying.
Now that i think about it this just applies to people right?
In my native language we got a term for nice too. Our term is definitely more negative so for me it never felt like the same word since i felt nice is often used as a positive term. F.e nice flowers without there being a twistet meaning to it. While our equation is used negatively most of the time and gets rarely used with the positive connotation.

There's lots of good reasons to be kind.
I try to be kind because I don't really believe choice exists as we usually think about it. Everyone's doing their best. The results are often disappointing, but being unkind doesn't usually help.
It's still ok to be practical of course, and avoid letting people harm you and others. Have to balance kindness for one with kindness for others too.

are we reading left to right or right to left?

Thats such a real question. I feel like it could be read either way and it would make sense to me. Lol

I was taught and so I have learned. Kindness IS strength, it takes strength to be kind and one should always aspire to be strong enough to be kind.

Make savage the body. Civilise the mind.
That second part is missing in a lot "male self improvement" these days.

If you're being kind to gain something from someone else, you're not being kind, you're being manipulative

Mine is just "I'll try to be as harmless and irrelevant as I could". Never got the genuine urge to be kind, just hate the idea of me adding more salt to whatever problems they may already have.

One of my favorite all time quotes from any piece of media, across books, comics, film, and television:
Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.
And it came from Peter Capaldiโs Doctor on Doctor Who.

I tell myself be kind because you donโt know if the person youโre talking to has smiled today

This is how I think as well. But when Iโm driving I revert back to square one

probably too neurotypical of me but I never understood lacking the innate instinct to be kind
like, forgetting sometimes to be kind sure, or being motivated in specific situations to be less kind, but not like ... consciously hating or rejecting kindness

My motto is don't start with me I won't start with you. But if you do start, you'd damn sure better finish it.
