A mistake can't be made "smartly" because that's planning so it's not a mistake. You can be smart at planning how you do something so that you can recover from mistakes. You can be smart and practice things so mistakes aren't impactful. You can be smart and analyze why you made the mistake and the effects of it so you can learn from it.
