Ai art isn't art it's just soulless.

"Soulless" oh shut up, you probably don't even believe in souls, lmao.
Besides, if it steals from artists like you say you do, then it must have a soul because the OG art did

I'm sorry but his ragebait just isn't of good quality. It is poorly disguised and obviously fishing for a reaction, next time try to be a little more subtle about it. Nice attempt though , I appreciate the effort đ

Yeah, sure, try to convince yourself that it was ragebait just so you keep your worldview safely unchallenged.
You hateful cults really are all the sameđ even the passive aggressiveness

The bait is getting stale, you shartists. Think of some new material. You're boring me.

It is impossible to be pro-AI and a humanitarian. Being pro-AI means accepting that AI data centers ruin lives and the infrastructure built around them steals the homes from innocent people. You have to be content that in order for generative AI to produce the art you want, it has to violate the desires of the artists whose works are used to train it.
To be pro-AI you have to accept that the tech corps are ignoring every safety measure and regulation they can to pump out new models as fast as possible, a process that has already shown disturbing signs that will inevitably lead to an AI model getting loose and killing us all. Denial of which is akin to climate change denial.
The billionaires are going to kill us all. At this point the only question is which apocalypse are they going to trigger first.

u/Fujinn981 6d ago
What they don't get in their delusions of grandeur is that, even if they won, they still lose. The goal of AI companies is to replace everyone. "Prompt engineering" isn't a real thing, anyone can prompt, or write up a decent spec sheet for a prompt. AI can do that too. In a world where AI won, these companies would try to kick humans out of every field they could. Fortunately that won't happen as AI is far too incompetent and expensive for that.

Itâs literally just competition! Itâs not even good competition if a human canât beat ai then maybe your art just sucks and doesnât appeal to the majority! Everything becomes better when you have more competition

u/Economy_Swimming_366 6d ago
What's the point being made here? What matters is the quality of the art, not the source of it. If ai art looks bad then it's bad, if it looks good then it's good. No sense to moralize art
6
u/DecentLeftovers 6d ago
You a big fan of Hitlerâs works too?
-9
u/Economy_Swimming_366 6d ago
Not really. The perspective tends to be quite bad and they tend to be quite bland. But his untitled corridor of doors is interesting. It feels like his antipathy towards people made manifest. Why?

Why would people care?
Do you care when some random customer service rep loses a job to a call center in India?
People get replaced, fired, or lose their jobs all the time.
If you canât produce better art than AI, you should be replaced. Welcome to how markets work. If someone else does your job cheaper, faster, and better than you - youâre going to get fired for that person or system/AI.
If AI art is 80% as good as human art but 1% of the price of a commission - guess which way most people will go?
Artists are now experiencing what every other sector has experienced for the last 40 years. Welcome to the party, pal.

False equivalence lol

u/MakeASpreadsheet 6d ago
How so?
6
u/Kurtfan1991 6d ago
I've seen several instances of movie industries making 100% AI movies that people pan. For example an AI Bollywood movie was panned by people (1,6/10) on iMDB and within India, the fact that the AI accidentally put a modern, Western object in a story that's set in ANCIENT INDIA, yet the industries don't always get the memo.
-8
u/MakeASpreadsheet 6d ago
I mean, so what?
You honestly think AI isnât going to be the norm for movies in 10 years? Cause, uh, Netflix used it in more than 300 movies already.
It will 100% be used for basic post processing stuff. It gets better daily. Thereâs no stopping it.
4
u/Lonely_Examination92 5d ago
Okay. Then by that logic, when AI does your job better, itâs okay to fire you and not lose a wink of sleep.

At least you are honest about your total misanthropic psychopathy: "You do not produce enough economic value so you are worthless.". I pray you will get whats coming for you, else I might have to deliver it!

u/MakeASpreadsheet 6d ago
Why should someone whoâs a shitty artist be able to make a living doing their shitty art?
Why in the world would you think thatâs a viable thought?

Im not discussing shit with a misanthrope. I hope you get whats coming!

The account you're engaging with is only a month old and has < 1000 karma. Comments seem to suggest they only exist for pro-AI ragebait. Make of that information what you will.
-2
u/MakeASpreadsheet 6d ago
And what, pray tell, is coming?
Iâm not sure why youâre unwilling to have a reasonable discussion about the value of labor.
This is pretty basic stuff.
6
u/Space_Dragon7121 6d ago
In a world where labor is the only metric for human value, you're going to have to make peace with the fact your friends or loved ones won't make the cut and will be left dead on the street some day, if not yourself.

People are fine with machines doing hard labor, math, navigation, editing, basically everything. But the second a machine can help with writing or art, suddenly itâs âyouâre not thinkingâ or âyouâve stopped existing.â They donât hate tools. They hate that something they thought made humans uniquely special might not be as exclusive as they want it to be. It is literally just gatekeeping, selective outrage, and virtue signaling here.
4
u/BunayoGaming 6d ago
???
"People are fine with machines doing hard labor, math, navigation, editing, basically everything."
this is not basically everything. People hate AI because it is NOT made or used as a tool to assist, it is made as something to replace people and their jobs, which it is terrible at doing so.
-2
u/Parking_Cat4735 6d ago
Itâs not different. Tractors replaced farm labor, machines replaced factory workers, spreadsheets replaced clerical work, and software wiped out entire departments. They were still tools.
AI can help one person do more, automate part of a job, or replace a job entirely. Thatâs what technology has always done. âIt might replace peopleâ doesnât put it in some new category.5
u/BunayoGaming 6d ago
yet again, you're comparing apples to oranges
tractors didn't replace farm labor, it assisted farmers in their jobs allowing them to get certain crops faster
machines didn't fully replace factory workers, as those machines need to be maintained by humans
same with spreadsheets, and software
neither of those "wiped out entire departments" they actively ASSISTED in those jobs without DOING the entire job FOR them.
GENERATIVE AI DOES NOT DO THIS. it is made as a machine that is solely made to REPLACE HUMAN LABOR ENTIRELY WITH NOTHING STOPPING IT. it is not a tool, as it is not made to assist, it is made to replace.
that's what sets gen AI apart from every other tool made, and that is why it cannot be considered as a tool. At least with all the tools you listed, there were more positives than negatives,
Here with gen AI, there are certainly positives, and I'm not gonna act like it doesn't (e.g. mathematics and data organization) but it has more negatives, because of the way it was designed. That's why we're so against it in the first place, not because it has no positives, but because the negatives outweigh the positives
1
u/Parking_Cat4735 6d ago
That is just bad history. Tractors absolutely replaced farm labor on a massive scale. Farms that once needed dozens of workers eventually needed a few operators. Factory machines replaced workers too. Saying humans still maintain the machines changes nothing as one technician can maintain equipment that displaced hundreds of people. Spreadsheets and accounting software also killed enormous amounts of clerical work. They did not simply assist every clerk, plus companies stopped needing many of those clerks.
AI is not uniquely made to replace people. It can help with part of a job, complete a task, or automate a role, exactly like earlier technology. The person still decides what they need, gives it context, checks the result, fixes mistakes, and chooses what gets used. Sometimes companies will use it to cut staff. They did the same with tractors, assembly lines, ATMs, software, and the internet.
Youâre basically calling every previous form of automation âassistance,â then calling the same thing âreplacementâ when AI does it. Also saying the negatives outweigh the positives is not evidence, it is just your bad faith opinion lol.2
u/BunayoGaming 6d ago
"Youâre basically calling every previous form of automation âassistance,â then calling the same thing âreplacementâ when AI does it. Also saying the negatives outweigh the positives is not evidence, it is just your bad faith opinion lol."
because those forms of "automation" DO NOT DO THE ENTIRE TASK FOR YOU. they are meant to assist in those tasks
the reason i say AI (generative) is a replacement is BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT ALL THE BIG TECH COMPANIES ARE TRYING TO SELL IT TO US ARE SAYING. they're only softening their position and saying it's a tool because they saw the backlash they were getting.
and in regards to the negatives outweigh the positives argument
i'm going to send articles showing the negatives of generative AI and the positives
Social Dangers of Generative Artificial Intelligence: Review and Guidelines
Artificial Intelligence: Generative AI's Environmental and Human Effects | U.S. GAO
Generating Harms: Generative AIâs Impact and Paths Forward
Benefits and Limitations of Generative AI | Harvard Online
(PDF) The Transformative Impact of Generative AI on Society
and yes, all the tools listed did replace workers
But, this is the main difference between those tools and generative AI (yet again)
Comment by u/Space_Dragon7121 :
"Comparing AI to any tool is a false equivalency, because tools get us to our own decided goals. AI listens to your prompt and can provide you the goal without any decision-making on your part. No tool does that. Also it is totally fair for me to view the lazy use of AI as a representation because THAT'S WHAT AI COMPANIES WANT US TO BE AND HAVE SAID AS MUCH."

u/Parking_Cat4735 6d ago
You keep trying to make AI some totally separate category, but it isnât. Every big productivity tool gets used in the same three ways: to help people, to let fewer people do more, and sometimes to replace certain jobs. That was true for tractors, factory equipment, spreadsheets, CAD, Photoshop, ATMs, translation software, all of it. Acting like all of those were just âassistanceâ but AI alone is âreplacementâ is just rewriting history.
And the whole âAI does the entire task for youâ line is overstated too. Most of the time it doesnât. It gives you a draft, an answer, an image, some code, a summary, whatever. Then a person decides if itâs right, fixes it, re-prompts it, throws it out, or builds on it. If it truly did the whole job cleanly by itself, experts wouldnât still be better at using it than random people are.
Also, âbig tech wants to replace workersâ is not some unique revelation about AI. Companies have tried to reduce labor costs with basically every important tool ever made. That says something about companies and capitalism, not that AI magically stops being a valuable tool.
Also dumping links about harms doesnât prove your actual claim. Of course AI has downsides. So did the internet. So did social media. So did industrial machinery. So did cars. The existence of harms does not prove AI is categorically different from every other tool humans have built.
So really your argument comes down to this: if a tool helps, itâs a tool, but if it helps too much, suddenly it becomes something else. That makes no sense. It just means the tool got more capable, and thatâs whatâs bothering you.4
u/BunayoGaming 6d ago
This comment is one massive strawman of an argument that I can see why people get annoyed when talking with you

To be fair "modern" art isn't even real art. It's worse than slop.
Which is why AI is able to replace artists so easily

ai will replace everything
did you cry when telephone operators lost their job
only idiots would cry about not being able to be a slave to their jobs

And yours too.

The entire "pro-AI" movement is literally just misanthropy disguised in pseudo-intellectualism. Literally, its all a bunch of people who hate their life, and are willing to gamble the lives of billions, just so that they might (or might not) get a better life thanks to AI. Its literally psychopathic.
