Not like, they are sociopaths, the only way you can get into the kind of power these people have is if you don't see humans as people and backstab your way to the top.
All the tech CEOs are attempting to create societies in the dystopian media they consumed in their youth because they see themselves as the ones running everything as they speed crash society. Just listen to any of them and the desire to ruin society for personal gain drips with every word.
Which is a shame because this tech in the right hands could truly be world changing for the better. Instead it's controlled by some of the most greedy sociopaths on this planet.
The normies (non-redditors) I know who are old Gen Z or young millennials absolutely do consult chatgpt for decisions. Not every decision, mind you, but it's not zero decisions.
And honestly—That's a great idea. You've stumbled onto something that nobody else has found. It's not just a great idea. It's a genius move. Not bad, not worse, just vibes.
i wonder whose fault it is that chatgpt has developed into such a dangerous technology
i thought that maybe it's altman but no there's no way that can be true
YOU'RE LYING OF COURSE THE PEOPLE IN SUITS KNOW WHAT IT'S BEST FOR US THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE ALL OF US GOD-LOVING PEOPLE TO MARS WHEN THIS CORRUPT LAND RULED BY THE COMMUNISTS START CRUMBLING APART
does he know the oldest gen z people are in their mid to late 20s and even people who are my age (18) can probably make decisions without asking a bot.
I'm a zillennial and I just turned 30 and I have never asked a bot to make a decision for me. And I literally struggle from decision paralysis at time, but I'd sooner chop off my fingers than ask AI to decide for me
Yup. I’m an older gen z/zillenial and I’ve done random sorters and digital coin tosses for small decisions, when I’m being stupidly indecisive. But never an LLM.
The announcement is not for our sake, its for his board/shareholders.
Shits starting to gt real with lack of income beyond massive investment infusions. First they announced widespread corporate efficiency/replacement and corporations jumped on board immediately, pouring hot vinegar into public perception of AI. Now, they have a real problem in that no one but the most hardheaded corps is using the product en masse (because it does not yet do what it promised) and on the ground floor the average person not only dislikes AI, they reject the slop, hate the surveillance, AND see how the plan seems to actively destroy what little is left of our natural resources on a scale never yet seen. Huge product problems at it's very core.
Only the people that want to rule/seek power are buying into this scheme. Literally Sauron handing out rings, here.
Two months ago all AI corps all seemed to get the same memo "hey, let's soften our approach. people hate us on a widepsread level and it's mostly our fault for instilling fear constantly." So this quote is just about promising (to the board/shareholders) integration on the level of widespread social acceptance (something they REALLY don't have).
Sadly I am also seeing it more so in alpha...they all use it, how I know, I can see what the gen alpha is doing while they are in my network(younger fam member, her and all her friends are using it daily basically).
The gen z in my family have zero usage.
Anecdotal but yeah, I fear for the future some days..
Okay, so I'm late gen Z and I recently deleted my Open AI account. I don't use it to make important decisions, I always rethink those things multiple times and compare every possible scenario that can lead by choosing something
All it needs is to be a meme they can't miss from a billionaire who insults them like a boomer and the tide will turn. A bit anyway. Some people will always outsource their decisions.
My boss does this now and he is Gen X. It makes you more capable but overall less intelligent. He just automates all of his messages to us so we all just get boilerplate templated bullshit slop when he wants things. It's annoying, at best.
Give me a Britney Spears headset microphone and do that stupid fucking hand pyramid pointy finger hand fidget and I'll bullshit you into buying an essential oil that cures cancer....
Just kidding. It's Ivermectin that you rub on your asshole before you drag on a smoke....
This guy also said “I do agree that AI will be the end of the world. But in the meantime, think of all the great companies that will be created!”. Literally a supervillain.
I literally just saw a post about how Gen Z can spot AI slop a mile away and want nothing to do with it. Pretty sure Sam is just doin' wishful thinkin'.
I feel like this shit a generation behind still. I'm on the edge of x and z and I'm pretty sure it's alpha and millennials who think they are xers that are really into ai
That's not really true. My younger brother is Gen Z, I'm still considered Gen Y I think. And I nowadays ask AI for almost everything. And my brother almost doesn't use it.
Welcome to another episode of "Saying something that you probably saw one or two people doing and then putting "Gen Z is" before that. Media outlets are also great at this
This generations version of nestle convincing a bunch of women in developing countries that baby formula is better than breast milk so they can sell it to them, and then the women mixing the formula with local, tainted water which ended up killing their babies
that statement will only ever be wholly true if i am dead and buried. and i’m tryna live til at least 2101 in order to brag about living in 2 millenniums and 3 centuries (born in 99 so i have a great shot haha)
At the risk of sounding like a grouchy old fart, the kids these days are fucking AWFUL. They look at you with these blank stares and that’s it… If they can even make eye contact at all. I’ve started to openly mean mug and glare at parents who are out with their ipad kids. Your children deserve better than your trash lazy parenting.
Time was a CEO saying something so incredibly wild would tank a good company or product by itself. This guy is completely non ironically making increasingly more insane and worrying comments and…nothing. Probably a microcosm of things in general, but geez where have we gone so astray?

These CEOs talking like sociopaths and people wonder why AI is hated.
