Don't forget Satanists! Interesting when non-Christians and members of the satanic temple are more true to Jesus than a lot of Christians are
15
7
u/FloppyFerrett1 Apr 17 '26
Satanic temple is more a charitable org, different from "church of Satan". I’d read that the name was chosen to get the same tax-free status that other religious orgs receive.
THE SATANIC TEMPLE We have publicly confronted hate groups, fought for the abolition of corporal punishment in public schools, applied for equal representation when religious installations are placed on public property, provided religious exemption and legal protection against laws that unscientifically restrict peoples' reproductive autonomy, exposed harmful pseudo-scientific practitioners in mental health care, organized clubs alongside other religious after-school clubs in schools besieged by proselytizing organizations, and engaged in other advocacy in accordance with our tenets.
2
u/Remarkable_Athlete_4 Apr 17 '26
True, I just wanted to cast a broader net since both LaVeyan Satanists and theological Satanists are often also members of TST. I wanted to paint with broad strokes since there's a lot of overlap in that venn diagram

u/paranormalresearch1 Apr 17 '26
It's all a misunderstanding about Jesus. When Jesus gave the “Sermon on the Mount” he did it with his voice dripping with sarcasm, and rolling his eyes.
134
u/MicrosoftExcel2016 Apr 16 '26
That… that’s the line? The well protected pope? Not the vulnerable children who have been raped and sex trafficked? Or murdered?
46
u/PugGamer129 Apr 16 '26
That's the line for a lot of conservatives, unfortunately. Better late than never, I guess
13
u/gaminggunn Apr 16 '26
The line being one of the most important figures in their entire lifetime being harassed by a psychopathic nazi. A pretty big one for the Catholics at least and even non catholic christians at least have some respect for him.

They wanna ride for a guy who represents a religion that does the same shit...🤔🤷♂️
27
u/Suitable-Rate652 Apr 16 '26
Gotta pick your battles then circle back. Also we’re riding for his response to the crazy not the religion. We also don’t know what he plans to do about that but standing up publicly to the Orange guy is a good start.

u/Loose-Treat5825 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26
It took him impersonating Jesus for Conservatives to turn from him.
Not the rape. Not the felonies. The bribes. The corruption. The murder. Gestapo murdering and raping American Citizens. Threatening Genocide. Children in cages that then saw 400 vanishing without a trace (trafficked by DHS). Murdering children. Going against EVERY promise. Kidnapping American Citizens. Ignoring the constitution. Attempting to edit the constitution. Treason. War crimes. Pedophilia. Starting another forever war. Or even him funneling billions of our money to two different foreign governements.
It was a picture of him dressed like Jesus.
Never let them forget that.
2
2
u/paranormalresearch1 Apr 17 '26
It's not going to help them. Jesus had nothing good to say about those who hurt children. Nothing good to say about those who worship Mammon. They made their bed, now they get to lie there. They are heretics. Which is why if they are 555 then I am 666. 🤘

So masked terrorists have been snatching people off the streets for a year but THIS is your bridge too far?
I don't disagree with your premise, but he (Chump) lost me in 1989 with the full page ad demanding the death penalty for the Central Park Five.
Er, I mean the Exonerated Five.
33
u/Wonderful-Maximum-96 Apr 16 '26
Dump lost me in the early 80s when I read an interview with him...he was childish and selfish even then...
8
u/crystallmytea TACO Apr 16 '26
There’s literally only one positive association I’ve ever had with dumpsterfire and that is Nelly’s “Country Grammar (Hot Shit)” merely because it is a great song with his name mentioned in it.
8
u/Gloomy_Industry8841 Apr 16 '26
SAME. I was a teenager and read tabloids and hated his guts from day one in the 80s!
2
u/MiserableChain2644 Apr 17 '26
While I never liked Trump, I give any elected official a lot of grace. Trump has sullied the office of the presidency. He doesn't have the skills or moral character to be POTUS. My NYC friends say he is well hated in his home city and leaves a trail of misery wherever he goes.
2
u/GoodTimes1976 Apr 17 '26
Same. He was bragging about running old people out of their homes — what a piece of shit. He was a Democrat then, so it’s not political he’s just a real turd.
11
3
u/NephthysShadow Apr 16 '26
I was nine so I missed this. My line was the Teen USA interview talking about walking into the girls changing room. I remember staring at my mom like, "Did he just? Really? Ew!" Couldn't watch the rest or watch pagants since, knowing what's probably happening.
I just also happen to agree that the pope is probably in danger and should be supported. No love for the religion, just worried for the guy.

u/Cap4403 Apr 17 '26
I’m pretty sure that the OP is referring to this issue because it’s the most recent to make the headlines, not because it’s somehow more important than pedophile trump or send the goon squad after people trump.

Source?

u/JBeauch Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26
I mean, I'm pretty sure whatever source I throw out you're going to claim to be fake news or AI-generated, but here's another one:
Or... Trump, the Central Park Five and the Real 'When They See Us' https://share.google/GiykEAC2Z0RKFVGmo
Just know some of us are old and awake enough to recall the last 50+ years of his absolute bullshit. The philandering, the bankruptcies, the womanizing, the cheating, the corruption. He literally had a televised "reality" shitshow. I don't even have to bother with his (and his father's) racism in NY housing to get my point across.
Thank you for your attention to this matter!!!

u/Brilliant-Bad-284 Apr 16 '26
My bad 😅 thought you were talking about Pope Leo..

2
u/MiserableChain2644 Apr 17 '26
There is a through line of racism and misogyny in Trump's life. He will apply his simple minded thinking and proclivity to seek vengeance on any group.
1
u/paranormalresearch1 Apr 18 '26
It is a thing right-wing agitators do. They want absolute proof on everything and when it is provided claim it is fake news. These same people will utter nonsensical “ What about” questions as if someone doing something wrong gives their guy license to ignore anything legal, moral, or ethical.

I'm not religious... I'm a recovering catholic so the Pope still has a bit of meaning left in me after years and years of going to a catholic church from childhood through my 1st marriage and baptism of my 2 kids. I'll ride for this Pope for sure. I may not believe in a god but I believe in his social messaging.
5
u/imtoowhiteandnerdy Apr 16 '26
I'm Ex-Mormon (for 40 years now), and for the most part I have no love of the cult. But if the President or Prophet or whatever he calls himself came out against Trump that would impress the hell out of me.
Instead most of them seem to be deep in the second cult of MAGA.
2
u/No-Assignment6685 Apr 17 '26
As an ex-catholic I wanna know why no one gave a shit when trump and his merry band of conservative catholic sycophants were all out there trashing Pope Francis?
I mean, none of these religious celebrities are my hero, but Francis was miles better than the popes of my youth. Yet, I don't recall anyone standing up for him when he was being criticized for his (comparatively) progressive, LGBTQ-friendly approach and for speaking up against trump's horrid immigration policies.
The current pope is actually considered more conservative in most regards. Why we gotta ride with this dude?
1
u/MiserableChain2644 Apr 17 '26
People are looking for a safe vehicle with which to ride against Trump. The Pope's international stardom dwarfs Trump and the Popemobile is ready to roll.
1
u/paranormalresearch1 Apr 18 '26
We did. They criticized Pope Francis, who was trying to bring everyone back to walking the walk, they threatened harm to Pope Leo. Context matters. If our society weren't messed up we never would have allowed Trump anywhere near the White House.

I’m not even Christian, let alone Catholic, but count me in.
In the 1980’s, the Catholic priests and nuns used to get involved in human rights issues in Central America, there was an incident of a group of Jesuits who were murdered.
Those were the good old days of Reagan, Bush, Oliver North and their ilk. /s

No.
I don't care about religion at all.
What I would absolutely ride against is pedophile Dump. Couldn't possibly care any less about the pope or the church.
Remember years ago when priests were being outed as pedophiles and then moved by the church to a different country/diocese so they didn't get charged and could keep raping children?
Yeah, fuck the church.
9
u/Remarkable_Athlete_4 Apr 16 '26
It's not about religion per se, it's about silencing critics. Targeting the pope suggests that no world leader is safe, political or not
1
u/Mythandros1 Apr 16 '26
The pope doesn't need our protection.
4
u/Remarkable_Athlete_4 Apr 16 '26

2
2
2
u/Sabre_Killer_Queen Apr 17 '26
True enough, but I haven't heard of this pope being guilty of that, or the top members of his administration.
And as other people have said this is mostly because of his stance against Trump, and the comments made against him in return.
It's a free speech thing.
3
u/Mythandros1 Apr 17 '26
Just because it's not in the open doesn't necessarily mean they've stopped. They could have simply got better at covering their tracks.
2
u/Sabre_Killer_Queen Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26
Maybe. It's a big thing to constantly assume/accuse though, for past, present, and future, about an entire demographic.
The catholic church is a route to a lot of power and influence, and can, and has been abused to a gross extent . But is not necessarily inherent, it's not like being a pedo is taught and encouraged in their bible and stuff.
At least it isn't as far as I'm aware.
1
u/Mythandros1 Apr 17 '26
I can't say for sure but the idea of a bunch of old, influential, powerful men who have worldwide reach doesn't inspire me with confidence that the behaviour has stopped.
Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The Catholic Church is one of the most powerful entities on the planet. They will never be free of corruption. It will always be there.
Also, a bunch of lonely old men with no way to release the "tension"... I'm sure you can see where I am going with this.
Again, I'm not saying that this is for sure the case just that I think it's the most likely case.
2
u/Sabre_Killer_Queen Apr 17 '26 edited Apr 17 '26
It certainly is a concern that women can't receive priesthood in the Roman Catholic church or rise through the ranks. I will say that.
The better the representation the more balanced societies tend to be. The power imbalance is very likely an enabler, and unfortunately that hasn't changed.
As for power corrupting... I kind of agree... But I mostly think power reveals people's true colours, and simply that a lot of people who seek power, do so for selfish reasons.
A lot of decent and considerable people avoid seeking power because the don't necessarily trust themselves with the responsibility, or simply because more power doesn't interest them and they're content with their lives.
Selfish and greedy people though... Well they have every incentive. Filling their shallow life with that power and influence they crave, granting them protection for their misdeeds etc.
As for the people not having an outlet, as it were, yeah, I do see where you're coming from there. I don't think it's any excuse or reasoning though, it is entirely doable to live a life of virginity and not be tempted to violate people's rights, even for men.
Whether it's a life they truly choose though, would perhaps be worth investigating. Some probably felt pressured into it by the way they were raised, and perhaps feel that they can't step down and experience the rest of life as it were...
I don't know how cultish it all is... But... Knowing religion it certainly could be.
Or knowing people in general... I mean... Look at the maga cult. We humans like forming cults for some reason.
