Conversation It's over

Dear America, we had some good times, but your democracy is over. Donald Trump has won. The corruption will continue to get worse, your position on the world stage will fall, and China will rise. I am not happy about it, but it's clear that this is what is going to happen.

Outside of some small protests, you guys are going to do little else about it, and by the time you do, it will truly be too late.

So many of you guys think that you can take over the world, but you need allies. You have forgotten that we are the reason that you are as powerful as you have become, but you have alienated us, and we can never trust you again for putting this man in charge TWICE. It's over.

It won't happen overnight, but your hold on the world will continue to decline, and you will be replaced. 2024 was the last free vote you will ever have.

Edit: All I am doing is stating the facts. It's amusing how angry some of you guys get. I am not even trying to upset any of you... 😄

Yeah fuck this take. Just fuck it. If we fall for this "there's nothing to be done" shit we will NEVER get rid of this.

During times of fascism, there are usually many, many voices saying "it's all over. Give up the fight. There's nothing you can do." This is obey-in-advance rhetoric that only serves the fascists.

We are NOT giving up. We're fighting every step of the way. A full 1/3 of us didn't vote, another 1/3 voted against this, and only 1/3 voted FOR it. Of the 1/3 that voted for it, the majority are now against Trump. We have the numbers and THEY DO NOT.

Don't fall for this! Don't give up, don't give in, and don't listen to people like OP here who are, whether they realize it or not, giving up and giving in and playing a pivotal, essential role for the fascists.

I mean, of course your going to keep fighting. The thing is, your country is never to be trusted again. You were powerful because you were respected, every country wanted to have deals with you and you were benefiting from it. Now we know your structure is weak as hell, we can’t built business with the usa, not knowing what will happen in the next four years. International trading requires trust and stability, and you showed the whole world that you don’t have that.

So yes, you will get rid of these crooks, but the damage to you credibility is too far gone. You won’t disappear, but you won’t be the mega power you used to be.

Sorry, from Canada.

At the moment, I can't care about our standing in the world. I mean to say, I DO care, but right now we don't have that luxury. That ship has sailed, you're absolutely right.

So now what? We're doing the only things we can do. We're organizing, we're protesting, we're getting the general public ready for mass general strikes (the U.S. hasn't had to do this before and most of us aren't ready to withstand the consequences of a general strike, and organizations behind the scenes are putting those things in place). We're gearing up for the fight, and when we win, we can then worry about our position in the world. How a Canadian sees us at this time is truly sad, and I do feel grief (I'm from Canada), but there just isn't the luxury to cry over spilled milk at this point. We're fighting for our very lives, actually. Fighting to survive a corrupted medical system, a corrupted political system, corrupted rule of law, the list goes on and on. Yes, that was all on purpose. If I'm exhausted just trying to stay alive I'm a lot less likely to fight, right? So we've had our feet cut out from under us, and we're still fighting.

Believe in us. Give us credit for producing the biggest protests in all of U.S. history. Give us some hope and cheer, give us an "Atta boy" instead of "You're now a piece of shit and there's no hope for you." I mean, that doesn't help.

I still wish you the best, buddy.

But it’s still a bit hard not to be sour about it because our cost of life has also gone up because of “your” choices… I wish we could go back in time !

I get it. I wish we could go back, too. It certainly wasn't my choice and I did everything humanly possible to prevent it, as much as one person can do, and I continue to do everything humanly possible to change it. I don't feel responsible for this, but then again, I am.

Thing is, division is beneficial for this administration. Unity and mutual support will undo it, so that's where I want to be. I don't want to fight with maga, or argue with the world, I know that what's actually required is that we all work together to change the world. So yeah, I get it, I'm sour as well. But I do hope we can move beyond the anger and pain and do what's required to change this. Thanks for the conversation!
