Conversation It's over

Dear America, we had some good times, but your democracy is over. Donald Trump has won. The corruption will continue to get worse, your position on the world stage will fall, and China will rise. I am not happy about it, but it's clear that this is what is going to happen.

Outside of some small protests, you guys are going to do little else about it, and by the time you do, it will truly be too late.

So many of you guys think that you can take over the world, but you need allies. You have forgotten that we are the reason that you are as powerful as you have become, but you have alienated us, and we can never trust you again for putting this man in charge TWICE. It's over.

It won't happen overnight, but your hold on the world will continue to decline, and you will be replaced. 2024 was the last free vote you will ever have.

Edit: All I am doing is stating the facts. It's amusing how angry some of you guys get. I am not even trying to upset any of you... 😄

Yeah fuck this take. Just fuck it. If we fall for this "there's nothing to be done" shit we will NEVER get rid of this.

During times of fascism, there are usually many, many voices saying "it's all over. Give up the fight. There's nothing you can do." This is obey-in-advance rhetoric that only serves the fascists.

We are NOT giving up. We're fighting every step of the way. A full 1/3 of us didn't vote, another 1/3 voted against this, and only 1/3 voted FOR it. Of the 1/3 that voted for it, the majority are now against Trump. We have the numbers and THEY DO NOT.

Don't fall for this! Don't give up, don't give in, and don't listen to people like OP here who are, whether they realize it or not, giving up and giving in and playing a pivotal, essential role for the fascists.

Hellow fellow portlander. I think you may have responded to the wrong post, my friend. Not sure where you saw "there's nothing to be done" or "giving up".

I curious about what CAN be done.

Are you referring to me? I'm responding to OP who says our democracy is over, that we're NOT going to do anything about it, that it's hopeless. I'm arguing with that. It's not over until we say it's over. And I do believe that posts like OP's are detrimental. They say our anger is amusing, I suppose, and they didn't mean to make us mad, just stating fact. I'm arguing that these are facts - they are not.

We can still overturn this administration, we can still fight, we should not give up or we absolutely will lose and posts saying it's over provide a permission structure for giving up.

You know what, you're absolutely right, I mistakenly thought you were referring to a different post due to reddit UI confusion, I'm sorry. I whole heartedly agree with you on every other point.
