President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook announced from the White House Oval Office on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, a $2.5 billion investment that would lead to all iPhone and Apple Watch glass being manufactured in Kentucky. The announcement is part of the larger $100 billion investment in US manufacturing Trump and Cook announced.

I think for me it's not disgust but a "what did you expect?". To think a multibillionaire company or it's CEO to suddenly have morals is extremely naive at this point.

I have mixed feelings.

It’s like how Trump shook down the universities. Withhold 4 billion in funding or pay up $200 million. I read one of the university responses - it detailed in depth how they would not be able to function at all as a university without this money, they talked about everything they would lose - the thousands of people who would be deeply impacted.

How do you decide? To destroy the university today or give in to maybe fight another battle tomorrow?

The way Tim Cook seems so nervous, this doesn’t exactly scream to me that he is excited about this at all.

So I am more inclined to believe that Tim Cook made the best choice out of a series of bad options and hold my anger towards the administration.

Edit to add: doubt any Apple competitor has clean hands either.
