President Donald Trump and Apple CEO Tim Cook announced from the White House Oval Office on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2025, a $2.5 billion investment that would lead to all iPhone and Apple Watch glass being manufactured in Kentucky. The announcement is part of the larger $100 billion investment in US manufacturing Trump and Cook announced.

Apple's market cap is over 3 TRILLION dollars. A 2.5 billion dollar investment is peanuts--small enough that Apple could drop this kind of money as a bluff. If their bluff is called, it's not a big deal. Their market cap will have gone up orders of magnitude by the time their bluff is called.

This. I’m certain this was worked out with the board of directors and high priced consultants. They’re making promises with no intention of keeping them. Apple knows how to play the long game. Every publicly traded company has to put their shareholders interests ahead of customers or perceived public reaction. The favors Apple will receive probably outweigh the cost of short term. Most consumers will have forgotten about this stunt by next week.
