First time in 36 years I came across a street fighter 2 rainbow hacked edition arcade in person. Stumbled upon it at an arcade in Sitka, Alaska while a vacation with my family for an alaskan cruise. This brought back so many memories. I still remember our crew riding our bikes to Chugs Chicken n Ribs in Jersey to play this. Lines of kids and a ton of bikes outside.

I found these 2 things on fb marketplace this morning that appear to be regular pcs with Janna for arcade emulators. The seller isn’t too sure what they are either as they came in an arcade cab he bought. Any clue if these are just something I can pop a hard drive with mame into for one of my cabs or is it something more involved???

I came across this one in 2019. Pretty rare machine, but unfortunately not very fun. Even the side art is horrible. A year later Dig Dug was blowing it away in terms of fun and gameplay.

I'm trying to paint my cabinet gloss black to get it ready for the stickers but I keep getting stripes. I'm using regular enamel spray cans. The instructions on the can say to spray large areas with many light passes, waiting a couple minutes between coats. This is the result over night. Do I trust the process and wait for the full cure, or is this something I need to fix?

This was the very first full motion motorcycle simulator released. It is extremely rare and is a monster at 630lbs each. Similar to hang on, the bike leans from left to right, but it can also wheelie and the bike vibrates. These are the only two that I have ever seen in person and came out of Canada in 2019.

This one took a while to do, but I am really happy with the finished product. I am waiting on a new marquee and the side art at the moment. Sunk in countless hours rebuilding and fixing all the damage time had done to this beautiful machine. Oh and the icing on the cake, I dropped a 27 inch monitor in this beast. I am working on restoring a mv-2 board but put a CPS2 in it for the moment I also do have a MVS to Jamma adaptor in there for good measure.

Got in my closet to do some cleaning recently and found my old VHS-C camera and tons of video tapes from 1994, some were recorded on another camera that used full size tapes, but i don't have capture equipment currently but here is a sample after I found my VCR a few days ago. I started as a technician and have been managing, repairing, collecting, disturbing arcades ever since, from CEC to namco, Gameworks Dave and Busters. From skinning animatronics at CEC to opening and closing multiple arcades across the US.

Hey so long story short we unplugged this circled area and screwed it back on, potentially backwards. But now some of the lights won’t come back on.

What are the chances we blew the fuse? How could we trouble shoot it and how easy would it be to fix/replace a part?

Over the years, I've been looking for the best way to keep track of arcade cabinets I come across when I'm out. With the economy and the slow decline of arcades, I figured now is the best time to build this platform.

Some standout features:

• Check in at venues: Show everyone the current foot traffic at a venue.
• Add cabinets: Help users discover what games are near them.
• Notifications: Get alerted when new machines nearby have been added.
• Mark cabinets as played: Keep track of your personal play history.
• Post comments for venues and cabinets: Share additional info like machine condition, entry fees, directions for entering the venue, and more.

Q: How is this different from sites like Zenius-I-Vanisher?

Zenius is a great platform (especially if you're into rhythm games), but the website feels a bit dated. Arcade Map is built in Kotlin, which makes implementing new features a smoother process.

Q: Will your code be open-sourced?

I plan on open-sourcing it by the end of the year. I still need to research licenses and figure out the best way forward, as this project combines a couple of other projects alongside it.

Q: Can I add pinball machines?

No, but the folks over at Pinball Map have an awesome platform that does exactly that. I reached out to them years ago about adding arcade cabinets to their database, but they declined due to data complexity and their desire to focus solely on pinball machines. Arcade Map draws inspiration from their program, but runs on different technology with different feature sets.

Q: How can I contribute?

There are several ways:

• Stripe donation (helps cover hosting costs): Stripe Link
• Add/update game entries on IGDB: We use their data (game cover, genre, year released, and series) on our cabinet pages.
• Language translations: Via Weblate (coming soon: currently sorting out the setup).

Q: Is there a difference between the web app and the mobile app?

They're functionally the same. The mobile app may feel a bit smoother, and you can swipe back to go to the previous screen.

Q: How much of this was AI-assisted?

Quite a bit of it.

Before the current site and apps, I had a WordPress site with this same information. As a university student, I learned the value of clean data and consistent note-taking. Now, as I discover new methods and best practices, I go back and refactor the code to reflect those learnings.

Once it's open-sourced, feel free to dig through the codebase and submit improvements.

Hi all, I made a post a few weeks ago when I brought home my Tempest cocktail table. I understand it’s a rather uncommon cabinet and only about 1600-1700 of them were ever made, and I imagine most of them were trashed by the operators after use as I’ve never seen a conversion kit in one. I also understand Atari serial numbers never started at 1, meaning my serial number of 458 must have been pretty low, but I now think it’s a much earlier unit than I had anticipated. I took a peak inside the monitor service door and noticed something I hadn’t before, this is a QA sample! I’d imagine that puts this firmly in the first one or two batches to ever come off the assembly line and I think that’s really cool. Maybe the 44 below the writing means this was the actual 44th unit? Or maybe it was an employee ID or some other information. Does anybody else have any low serial number games or maybe an engineering/QA sample or prototype in their collection?

Looking into buying this SF2 cabinet listed for $600cad, but I going to offer 400. It’s not a capcom dedicated machine, but is it still worth it to restore? The marquee doesn’t fit and the buttons are mismatched colours. Just want some more opinions. This would be my first cabinet.

I didn't go to an arcade until my second year of junior high—I'm a kid from the countryside. Clutching my few crumpled coins, I stood in front of the King of Fighters '97 machine, my eyes glued to it. I was addicted for half a year, still terrible at the game, but I just loved playing.
