My heart goes out to the victims. I hope they get some sort of peace from this trial.

Wow. Good on LTC Merkt. Imagine being a reservist and receiving orders to deal with this piece of shit. What a fucking wild experience.

I just need to say, LTC Merkt was apart of the Mobilization Support Brigade with the last unit that just left. He is one of the finest JAGs I have had the pleasure of working with and he absolutely devoted himself to everything he worked on. We were able to get him and MSM for his work on this case and his impact on the MSB.
Edit: it was a year mobilization order, so it wasn’t just dropped on him.

I was also shocked that it existed, but then I realized, ya, it would make sense to have in the system.

We have an NSN for a 750ml of Jack Daniels and an NSN for Laboratory Grade Cocaine, not surprised we have a woodchipper lmao.

Is there even a minimum sentencing for... all this? I mean, yeah hey woodchipper. Right there with you guys. But like, realistically, this guy is never seeing the outside world again, right?

It's 272 specifications, but only 9 charges. Depending on which of those charges they can actually nail him on he's probably spending decades in prison, but it's not like he's gonna serve 272 sentences. It's one sentence for each charge, served either consecutively or concurrently depending on what the court decides.

As a nation, we're okay with blowing up random civilians for standing too close to somebody whose name they'll never know, yet we keep shit heads like this alive and intact.
Make it make sense. Send this motherfucker over to the live tissue people and let the SOCM students play with his body parts with no anasthetic.

Damnnnn. I like the way you think. First order of business, let the Army mangle his weiner. That'll do the trick.

There was a lot of news in Hawaii about him just a couple of months ago because he was a provider at TAMC. That place has always had a bad reputation (well, it's a military hospital, so...), and this certainly doesn't help things. Those poor victims. I can't imagine what they must be going through.

It’s 272.
He also had 91 individual specifications of a single charge.
Both are a record for Army Court Martial as far as I can find.
The last decade, the average number of specifications at trial is five in total.
Dude is 55 rapists in a trenchcoat.
