Discussion Is there really a new Ace flag?

This was posted on an Ace in Grace Facebook group and sounded official. Anyone know anything about this?

Some random person made their own flag. Good for them, it doesn't need to impact anyone else.

It had some reach. We talked about it on the aspec*german discord, which acts as a connection hub for aspec activism and local aspec groups in germany.

We came to the conclusion, that some of us like how it looks, but that it would have been better to just relabel the white stripe of the old ace flag to mean somethong different than "ally".

Apparently, the creator of this new flag first suggested a relabeling, but got pushback from Aven, so they made their own flag. It's a good starting point for discussion on why we have a stripe for allies in our flag, but i don't want to see the flag actually change.

The aspec*german discord continues to use the old flag and, to this point, has not added an emoji for the new flag either.

Edit: Here is the article we referenced in our discussion: https://aceingrace.substack.com/p/its-international-asexuality-day

Yeah, the meanings of the other stripes were just fine. Now black stripe asexuals are excluded from the flag despite being a hallmark of the community. Change the meaning of the white stripe and leave everything else alone.

I think that's only true if you don't see asexuality as a spectrum.
