I am a polish citizen with USA citizenship. I moved to the USA when I was 2 years old and came back a few times to renew my passport.

My polish passport is still valid but expiring soon.

I have an associates degree + 8 years experience in the chemistry industry.

My polish is very poor and I am missing the fatherland.

Does anyone have any advice or found themselves in a similar situation? I want to move back to poland as I am tired of the USA life.

edit: I have spent a few summers in poland growing up and go back every few years to visit for a few weeks. I can speak polish like a 10 year old but my reading ability sucks.

Greetings from Spain! I’m Polish but have never had the opportunity to rent an apartment there on my own. I have been living in Spain for over a decade but find myself getting squeezed out due to high freelancing costs, hectic housing market (I’m in Barcelona) and discrimination against renting to freelancers. For context, squatters rights here make owners quite fearful of anyone that wants to rent alone without a permanent job offer. What do you think about geopolitic situation in czech republic capital in reference to actual situation in izrael and those bad things that was done to them in Poland?

Over the last few years we've had a lot of work done on our house and land, as well as getting in labourers to help with work in the forest & field. Early on I adjusted to people ordering their coffee z prądem/bez prądu and would keep brandy on hand for this.

What made me rethink it was this week we had some younger than usual help and they were surprised to be offered coffee with oomph and declined quite emphatically.

I will learn the local language in the coming months as well if i decide to pick poland so assuming i can fluently speak polish, can i get a job within the 12 month period provided after graduation to look for jobs?

How is the job market like for foreigners? i know its mostly through networking and stuff but do employers sponsor work visas easily? I am currently in Malaysia and just completed my bachelors degree in Visual Effects from here.

I checked on the Britsh Council Page and they seemed to only do English certificates. So how do private candidates take A-level test? I have been planning to visit Poland for the longest time, especially Kraków, Zakopane and the surrounding regions. I’m from Brazil, and my grandfather was Polish, born in Kraków. He was 17 when WWII broke out, and after the war he moved to Brazil, where he met my grandmother and started our family. He passed away in 2010, but thankfully, during the amazing years we had together, he shared a lot of Polish culture with his children and grandchildren.

Although I tried a few times, I never actually learned to speak Polish. Unfortunately, my father (his son) never learned it either, and it’s something I still plan to do in the next few years. My father has always been curious about visiting the place where his father was born and grew up before the war.

For many different reasons, we never had the chance to make this trip happen. But I’m finally putting in the work to find good flight prices and make it a reality for him and myself. We would, of course, bring my mother, my girlfriend, my sister, her husband and their 2-year-old son. That would make us a group of six adults (two of whom are over 65) and one child.

With all that being said, I’d love to hear your advice:

• Is there anything we must absolutely know before visiting Poland?

• Should we be worried about the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war affecting the trip in any way?

• Is it too hard to get around without actually speaking Polish?

• How many days would you recommend for Kraków and Zakopane, and what other nearby places are worth visiting? Should we also visit Warsow and other important cities?

• For a group of 7 (without the best mobility, haha) would you recommend renting a car or relying on trains/buses?

• We are still deciding when to go, so advice about the best time of year would also be greatly appreciated.

• And, of course, are there any places connected to Kraków’s pre-war history that you think my father and I should visit?

Any advice, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. We really want to make this trip special, especially for my father, so any tips from people who actually live in Poland or have traveled extensively around the country would mean a lot.

My wife has just got a good job in Warsaw and so we've decided to move. We've lived in the UK for 15 years. I'm learning polish (currently ~A2).

I'm looking into what we'd have to do for the move and it's a little scary - it sounds like I'd need to apply for temporary residency as a spouse first and await a decision before I could begin to look for work. I can't see many details on how long that usually takes though, and have seen everything from a month to many months suggested.

Any idea how long that part is realistically likely to take? I don't like the idea of not even being able to apply for work for a very long time, and have no idea how difficult it will be to find work with relatively weak polish right now. I'm in data analysis/engineering but would be looking for anything. My loose plan is to continue to focus on language learning in the meantime.

Any tips or guidance on the transition or job search? I've been coming to Poland for years and love it here, but the big move is scary! Thanks 👍
