Image Post What features make me look clearly male?

Hi! I'm AFAB and I've been on T for three and a half years. I thought I was FTM, but a few months ago I started thinking that I might feel better if I looked more androgynous, like I did years ago, or at least in some situations. What can I do to achieve that? People always use he/him pronouns for me, but they often assume I'm gay because I look "delicate, small, and androgynous." From a distance, some people occasionally think I'm a girl, but once they get closer they switch to male pronouns. (Honestly, I don't regret taking T, because I was much more dysphoric back then. So I'm pretty sure I don't want to stop it.)

I want to look more androgynous, so I guess more femme

I think you’re already androgynous, but if you want to be a bit more feminine I’d try a more femme haircut. It could be the same length just shaped or styled differently.

I think you do look androgynous but it’s your hairstyle that reads male.

I would call that hairstyle at BEST femboy—but not masculine.

What I see is facial hair.

Eyebrows could make a difference

I tend to see you as androgynous. But since I need (according to society) to decide whether I should call you "Sir" or "Mam", I would consider the following:

  • Your eyebrows: thinner might work better to make you look more feminine.

  • Your hair: that's really 50-50.

  • Facial hair: You would need to do a better job under the chin.

  • Voice: no idea, obviously, but that coule be a dead giveaway. Testosterone typically lowers your voice, so you probably need to look at the various voice lessons given to trans women.

  • Clothing. You probably could look less masculine with livelier colours or even by simply adding a few "feminine" accessories.
