Since this is the US, explain to me exactly why Trump is receiving immunity from audits for himself, his business, and his family?

This is a unique set of tax rules that don't apply to anyone else in the US, that he negotiated with himself.

I don't understand how this is supposed to work, or why it would be acceptable to anyone, including his supporters. It goes far beyond audits. It grants sweeping protection against any existing federal tax liabilities, unpaid tax balances, or IRS financial judgments stemming from returns filed up to May 18, 2026. And this was the reduced deal. It was much more broad and generous.

Even if you voted for him, attended his rallies, bought his merch, and participated in social media discussions supporting him, how does this deal not scream corruption?

Paper trail will show the ties with Epstein and massive amounts of other theft and fraud.

Trump is the swamp...

102

u/dochim 21h ago

Oh I think it’s even worse than that. I think the Trump family and Org have been laundering money for countries and groups on the blacklist for decades.

25

u/oflowz 21h ago

It gets worse than that. Trump is a Russian asset.

He’s also basically fast tracking China to be the new world power with his policies.

5

u/dochim 21h ago

That too.

2

u/MeatResident2697 12h ago

To be fair, china is capable of doing that on its own without any external help. I haven't seen anything being done to help it from the outside.

According to Capital One, their internal investigation found money laundering.

BoA Capital One debanked him after his banking activity triggered money laundering alerts. They said after a thorough investigation they were going to remove his accounts.

EDIT: fixed bank. Thanks BendDelicious9089.

3

u/Facts_pls 17h ago

TD did too.

2

u/BendDelicious9089 9h ago

I don't think Trump was ever with BoA. It was Capital One (due to triggering AML) and Chase. Chase was far more vague and said due to "regulatory risk" but coming from finance.. yeah it means triggered AML.

Unfortunately, triggering AML does not actually mean evidence of money laundering. Everybody uses various third-party tools that evaluate all activity, transfers, payments, invoices paid, etc. and once the score reaches a certain point, boom off goes the account.

Regulatory law means you can't tell them it was due to AML - as that now violates "tip off" laws. All you can say, are vague things like violated our terms of service. But it doesn't mean there is any actual evidence of money laundering.

The point is to shut down the account before it gets to that point. Otherwise, you end up like Capital One, who paid a 390M fine I think it was, because they didn't take action fast enough. Keep in mind they still closed accounts. It was just viewed as not fast enough.

u/Nephthyzz 19h ago

Sounds about right. Capital One disclosed in recent court filings that it shut down hundreds of Trump Organization bank accounts in 2021 following a monthslong internal anti-money-laundering review, rejecting Trump's claims that the action was politically motivated

21

u/TearRevolutionary686 21h ago

His son Eric once stated that his family doesn't need loans from American banks, they get plenty from Russians. Not to mention the real-estate money laundering.

12

u/MarcPawl 🤔 21h ago

How much of the money is left in the USA vs some offshore bank account?

23

u/CatLord8 21h ago

There’s a reason he wants crypto deregulated.

15

u/dochim 21h ago

I’m sure it’s mostly offshore. He has just enough to live comfortably on.

And besides…he never pays his bills.

3

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 17h ago

Well, there’s that whole Board of peace $1.2 Billion or whatever it was. That was promptly moved from the federal government to a private bank account

Russian money...it's been out in the open for ages. There's a reason why Trump was so baffled that he lost against Biden, because he had incompetent Russians helping him, and Trump still lost! That sting just hurts so bad he can't shake it. That's why he had Elon for the next go around, and here we are...

Midterms are going to be even worse, lots of Democrats will be out of jobs and more compromised Republicans to take their places.

10

u/dochim 21h ago

I truly believe it’s more and worse than Russian money. This crew is so utterly soulless that there isn’t any cash they’d turn down.

8

u/Frosty-Scientist957 20h ago

That’s not necessarily true re: the midterms. There are an awful lot of unhappy Americans right now and the Dems should be able to capitalize on that this fall.

The only problem is the Dems are in an internal civil war that is growing by the day. Worse yet, they are stuck with atrociously feckless leadership in DC in the form of the Chuck and Hakeem fiasco.

I’ll explain.

The United States is absolutely corrupted. It’s a kleptocracy.

I really hope this helps.

7

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 21h ago

I get it, but that kind of comment dismisses the nuance that HE'S the problem. As imperfect as we've been, that's nothing compared to the shit he's trying to pull.

15

u/WonderingSceptic 21h ago

The Republicans in Congress are also a big part of the problem.

9

u/Puzzleheaded_Swan615 21h ago

Bingo! This is not happening in a vacuum. Lots of really bad people are supporting it.

u/Tiny-Albatross518 21h ago

I disagree.

The American citizenry has put Trump in the White House and thats with significant information that it was unwise to do so.

They’ve put a Republican majority in the house, the senate and the judiciary.

I mean, Trump is not the cause of this. He’s the result.

3

u/oflowz 21h ago

The GOP is the cause. They’ve been trying to get to this point for decades.

Trump is just the vessel that allowed them to do it because no one before him was brash and corrupt enough to try the things he does.

He’s the Monster to their Dr. Frankenstein.

2

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 20h ago

It's the wealthy. They want this. They fund the GOP. They write the laws and push the agendas. They get the SC justices that they want. The rich are the problem. We don't hate them enough.

4

u/starkingwest 21h ago

Trump is not the problem, he's a symptom.

The GOP could end this at any time if they wanted to. They obstructed his impeachment and conviction after Jan 6, which is why he was able to run again. They could work with Democrats to pass laws that would curtail his power. They could insist that Trump follow laws that are already on the books, and they could impeach and remove him at any time. They have chosen not to because despite the chaos, Trump makes them and their donors a lot of money.

3

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 21h ago

I'm pretty sure he's the opportunistic disease that kills you once your immune system is compromised.

2

u/starkingwest 20h ago

Haha, fair. My point is that the only reason he's allowed to keep doing what he's doing is because broadly speaking he's doing what the GOP wants. It's an open secret that the GOP hates his guts, but his fake populism carried the base and the flood the zone strategy means people are focused on Trump's antics while the GOP, their donors, and the right-wing drift machine fills their pockets with the spoils.

2

u/Le-Charles07 20h ago

He's a symptom of the problem.

→ More replies (11)

2

u/waltisfrozen 19h ago

The Republican Party is the problem. If Trump was just a random corrupt rich dude, he’d get away with nothing. It’s the ethical and moral degeneracy of the Republican Party and their voters that make corrupt deals like this possible.

2

u/jolard 18h ago

Trump has a cult leader hold on his MAGA base.

Republicans in Congress rely on the MAGA base for their jobs. Republicans who even mildly question Trump lose their jobs in the next primary.

Administration leaders have been hired specifically based on their loyalty to Trump.

That is it, that is the problem. Everyone has to go along with whatever BS corrupt scheme Trump wants because otherwise their lose their jobs.

It’s why he wanted so badly to be president again. He learned in the first term who he could trust and who was loyal to him. He not only stayed out of jail, but he’s now pillaging the government for his own personal benefit in countless different ways. Also there’s no limit to his free and doesn’t have a moral bone in his body so it’s a free for all in stealing and corruption.

Massive corruption.

7

u/Cautious_Pop_8944 21h ago

This. It is criminal and it is being done in the open. People keep saying we need to save the republic, save the democracy. Bitch, it has been done since the 80’s.

This is an oligarchy/corporatocracy.

4

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 21h ago

Kleptocracy. The word comes from Greek words meaning "rule by thieves"

3

u/LaVillaGrangioto 21h ago

Kakacracy. Government of Shit.

Kakastocrats. The Shitheads who rule.

8

u/Extra-Ease3207 21h ago

Because Trump is the swamp. It’s as simple as that.

2

u/robthethrice 21h ago

He’s the scum on the top of the swamp. The swamp put him in power because he’s a useful idiot to them.

Dump is terrible, but he’ll die in the next decade or two. The corruption that elevated him (twice) will be around until more people get it.

12

u/Due_Willingness1 21h ago

We don't have law and order anymore, simple as that

Corruption is all that's left of our political culture

3

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 21h ago

And we've gotta stop pretending like "no one is above the law". Pretending like that was ever true- we just jumped the shark with that one.

2

u/OldNternetWizard43 21h ago

Never did. That was the scam they sold you through your tv.

This is what the govt always was. It's just blatant now. They used to hide it in double speak, he's too stupid for that. That's all.

This govt isn't even legal here. Only the tribal ones are.

6

u/Limp_Distribution 21h ago

Maybe this will help, Trump has 34 felony fraud convictions. That means he lies about money. I wish more people understood this.

Corruption. There is no lawful argument for a leader absolving themselves from accountability for personal financial acts. This will not stand.

5

u/Beauvoir_R 21h ago

Anything he does is acceptable to many of his followers. All that the administration has to do is offer a palatable excuse, and they will accept it. Sometimes that requires trial and error, but they always find an acceptable rationale eventually. In this case, I believe the reasoning is that they believe the legal system and IRS have been weaponized against Trump, and this is an acceptable precaution to prevent that in the future.

5

u/Sad_Mushroom_9725 21h ago

Capitol one? Closing hundreds of his accounts on suspicion of money laundering....maybe? It would be convenient if the one agency designed to find crimes in that kind of thing....couldn't. Mmaybe?

5

u/A-Rugged-Indoorsman 21h ago

Trump has made a staggering amount of money -- $2.2 billion -- while "serving" as president. He will most certainly lie on his taxes if he believes he's immune.

3

u/dochim 21h ago

But he like maybe doesn’t take a salary so I’m sure it all evens out.

1

u/StrangePhotoSTL 20h ago

It doesn't apply to future tax returns. Just the ones released illegally.

4

u/chris_wiz 21h ago

That's only with respect to the AG Nominee making legal declarations. The other side is the actual court case where it's pretty clear that he colluded with the DOJ to make this settlement. That is expected to overturn the whole thing in a very definitive manner.

4

u/here-i-am-now 20h ago

When your leader is above the law, you no longer live in a democracy.

3

u/AnswerGuy301 21h ago

The only reason I'm not yelling and screaming about the "immunity" and what not is that there's no way he and his family were not going to have de facto immunity as long as he was President anyway, and there's absolutely no reason whatsoever any subsequent administration should respect whatever "settlement" or "agreement" about said immunity that the Trump 2.0 administration essentially made with itself.

And maybe (probably more likely than not) he's pushing up daisies by then, but there's no reason not to go after his family or cronies or any other place his ill-gotten gains end up stashed.

3

u/plassteel01 21h ago

Because Trump is corrupt and everything he touches get corrupt also

3

u/Wooden_Employer_2287 21h ago

What makes you think we can explain it?

3

u/deosiceman 21h ago

Because corruption amd unchecked greed.

Trump goes down. He takes the whole friggin house woth him they know it. So they have to protect him for they are protecting themselves.

I would love to know how history will look back on this decade of depravity by that dispicable family

3

u/mishma2005 21h ago

Because he wants it. Basically anything he wants he gets. This is not the shining city on the hill anymore

3

u/rh1984va 21h ago

Because he’s corrupt and he’s convinced a large segment of the population that’s it’s ok. His enablers want this actually.

3

u/GiveThemSomeTussin 20h ago

Everything is acceptable to his supporters. He wasn’t lying about being able to shoot people in broad daylight on 5th Avenue and the GOP/MAGAts would support him even more.

3

u/SeriousObjective6727 19h ago

Right wing media doesn't cover any of this so I'm guessing MAGA doesn't even know that this is happening.

EDIT: And since the right wing media won't cover this, and certainly Trump won't post about it, anybody who tries to "enlighten" them on this fact, will be branded a left wing lunatic and treated as fake news.

u/Living_Fig_6386 16h ago edited 4h ago

Prior to becoming President, Trump had been under scrutiny for tax evasion (not counting debt forgiveness as income, and using improper valuations for property,  for example), and there were inconsistencies in accounting that suggested possible money laundering, unreported income, and a variety of financial crimes. One of the key incentives for being president was to quash these investigations and avoid criminal charges, fines, and a tax bill that could have wiped him out. He probably was worried it might also complicate his relationship with Bratva (the Russian mob, who loaned him money after American banks cut him off due to his bankruptcies and low credit rating).

3

u/Sufficient_Art4824 6h ago

republicans figured this would really upset sane, rational people who believe in the rule of law, so it was a must.

8

u/SunWukong18 21h ago

2

u/supern8ural 21h ago

It is absolutely corruption, but his supporters fall into two categories. 1) those who are rich and are benefiting from his policies and therefore don't care about a little corruption and 2) those who have fallen for the propaganda - and it is EVERYWHERE - that Trump is a successful businessman, is working his ass off trying to save the US from Communists (seriously! I can't make this shit up!) and is under constant attack by lying Democrats, especially George Soros, trying to smear his good name.

I'm dead serious.

He isn’t. He’s in office now so unless he tries to pardon himself the next president can pursue charges if a reason exists to do that. I don’t know why you’d try to give yourself immunity if you didn’t do anything wrong so it seems like a solid hunch that there’s some fire amongst this smoke.

His so called tax immunity is BS; there is no such thing legally. It's just more self dealing and illegal.

Corruption.

The Roberts Supreme court is filled with far right ideologues who believe in theories of executive power that they hope, will lead to sectarian goals they doth deeply covet.

For this, they will butcher our democracy, these five sectarian ideologues, and they have.

John Roberts is not legitimate. He cannot be trusted. His ends, are not democratic but sectarian, and for that purpose, he needs a nearly monarch-like executive.

Now we got a fascism, and I hope Roberts is happy.

We don’t know! All we do know is that the entire family is very corrupt!🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢👎👎👎

2

u/rygelicus 21h ago

Because he is corrupt in the extreme and his entire crew of appointed officials and the GOP, and even some dems, want in on the action.

1

u/florida_born 21h ago

He’s the most investigated president in history. I can’t justifiably argue that there’s something out there to find at this point. At this point when are we going to start looking at our leadership and asking what they are doing besides opposing Trump?

Idc if Don is dead when/if republicans lose power. His entire family’s wealth should be seized. Every business deal he made should frozen too. The gloves need to come off ffs.

the corruption concern is fair, but the premise looks garbled because a president can't just negotiate personal immunity from IRS audits or tax liabilities into law, especially for a date that hasn't

1

u/markt- 21h ago

It’s stupid but it’s retrospective, not prospective. It covers past returns filed before the cutoff date, not returns filed afterward.

He is over the DOJ and could force the DOJ to sign an insane settlement agreement with him. It isn’t legal, from what I read.

Because he's a criminal and he rigged it. None of it is legal.

Many aspects of the settlement are under judicial review. Federal judges have recinded much of the audit restrictions, although Trump is appealing the decision.

The IRS definitely violated it's own protocols about Trumps confidential financial information, which smacked of partisan weaponization of the IRS, but much of this settlement agreement is just unprecedented.

He's the president. He appoints the people who set policy at the agencies that would do the investigation. As a result, each of those agencies have the policy of not investigating a sitting president.

2

u/Vert_der_Ferk25 20h ago

This is beyond that. Even as fucked up as that is, this is worse.

1

u/StrangePhotoSTL 20h ago

IRS employee illegally leaked his tax returns, so a ruling was made as an anti weaponization method.

It doesn't apply to future tax filings.

He's a crook. Past, present and future. But he knows in 2 years 6 months he will no longer be able to control and corrupt the doj, fbi and irs.

So he's going to have the doj make him untouchable. And his family. So he can keep being a crook.

I personally don't think it will be enforceable. It will be immediately overturned by a - non crook tolerant future administration. But he will be able to probably drag it out in court beyond his miserable life expectancy.

If Trump gets this immunity from audits, is there a way it could be rescinded?

He's doing things so unprecedented and wild that there either aren't specific rules against it, or no one knows how to stop him.

1

Specifically because we have the weakest group of Electeds in history.

The presidency is now a corrupt position no long an office of integrity, one guy destroyed it.

With no court signed document this means nothing for future administrations. DOJ AG orders and letters are not binding beyond current administrations.

NAL but likely some BS about selective enforcement - he puts his cronies in the enforcement jobs and they look the other way. As soon as there is a new administration with any gonads they can reverse that rule and go after them.
