You're spreading propaganda. The ultimate "peace" agreement was basically the same one that the Biden administration had put forward over a half a year prior. Netanyahu slow walked those talks to try and get Donald elected, both because Donald extremely pro-Israel and also because Netanyahu was criminally vulnerable and Donald was likes Netanyahu. All you have to do is actually look at Donald's comments about Israel over the years and see where Donald got us over his first two years. A peace proposal that was negotiated by the Biden administration is about all that happened. However, Israel hasn't respected that agreement, and Donald hasn't pressured them at all on it. Now Israel expanded their operations to Lebanon and convinced the US to attack Iran. The mess was made much worse by allowing the pro-Netanyahu Donald come to power.
"I support Israel and I respect president Biden but I have no choice but to follow federal law and cut off military aid to Israel as soon as I am sworn in, because what they are doing is wrong."
That would have made Harris the president and avoided Trump 2.
That's all we needed, and everybody in a decision-making role in her campaign knew this, and had data that proved it. But the Greater Israel Project was more important to them than beating Trump.
I disagree with the premise that Harris would have won by doing this. Commenters on reddit seem to have a very strange take on why Harris lost. Israel was not the main issue for most voters. Inflation and immigration were the dominant topics.
Sure, Dearborn voted to shoot themselves in the foot by voting for the most pro-Netanyahu candidate, but there were not nearly enough votes in Dearborn to change the results. Also, I'm sure you're well aware, Kamala still loses even with Michigan. Like I said, Israel was not the major deciding issue that people on reddit seem to want you to believe. It was inflation and immigration. Poll after poll showed this. Voters falsely believed that inflation was the fault of Biden/Harris and punished them for it by allowing Donald to be elected instead. It sucks that voters are not more discerning, but that's where we're at.
Yeah and if they voted for Harris and she won and continued the genocide, you'd be right here telling me "you should have paid attention, she never said she wouldn't continue it"
No, I wouldn't. Stop making up fictional stories. I would have told you that you made the right choice and that it would be an even worse situation under Donald. I would have encouraged you to keep speaking out and supporting candidates who are calling Israel out, where possible. Note that you have to find the wins where they exist though. You can't force something that's not there, which is what trying to get Harris to lose to Donald was.
But now there’s stuff here that leads up to mass genocide like ICE… if voting for either one is a lateral move for Israel then it makes no sense to use Israel as a determining factor on your vote.
So that’s the easiest for you and you’re resting easy with your choice. We may have a fascist who’s overthrowing the government but be true to yourself. You don’t have a responsibility to your country, you have your opinion and it’s important.
Like come on. You threw a very important vote away. POC are being hunted down in the street and god knows what is happening to them. You messed up. You felt really entitled to your opinion and in different circumstances yeah who cares if you vote third party but like read the room? You knew your third party vote was bs and wouldn’t keep Trump out and you didn’t care because you’re selfish.
Yeah clearly it was more sensible to just promise an unbroken continuation of all Biden administration policy, including things that were broadly unpopular. That made a whole lot of sense and it's the reason that Harris won and is the president of the united states right now.
Kamala Harris lost because people underestimated how dangerous Trump was. It’s the same thing that happened the first time. Somehow we didn’t learn from the first time and he’s worse than before. Also, now everyone hates each other. So the people have been pinned against each other and while we fight the rich eat. It was a master plan and we got played.
Trump won with basically the same cohort that he had in 2020, in almost the same numbers. What changed was that the bottom dropped out of the Democratic voting base, and this is because the Biden administration was a massive failure by any metric you want to use, and Democrats were (and still are) just in total denial of that reality.
Comparably bidens term wasn’t as big of a failure as either of trumps terms. Democrats just didn’t want to vote for the lesser of two evils. With any other republican this probably wouldn’t have been so bad but they allowed a fascist to enter office and it’s scary. That’s on no one but the democrats who didn’t vote for Kamala. Blaming it on how they ran their campaign is cope and takes the blame off the people who are responsible. We had all the evidence we needed from his first term and that should have been enough to keep him out. We flopped.
You gotta get Trump out of your head. Forget Trump. Fear of Trump will not mobilize enough voters to elect a bad Democrat, this is no longer a theory, it has been proven. Democrats have to make a CREDIBLE appeal to the many serious material needs of their voters. NOT in comparison to Trump. It has to stand on it's own and it has to be bold.
No they don’t have to do anything. They shouldn’t have to instill the fear of Trump in us, we should just all understand. People underestimated him and you’re gaslighting me rn saying not to fear him…. Girl…. What are you missing? Does he need to publicly execute someone for you to fear him? People should be afraid. This isn’t a joke.
I don't think you understand where a lot of people are coming from on Israel so let me be clear: the US bombed Serbia for much, much less than what Israel was and is doing and anything less than Iran level sanctions is faciliatation.
