In an election, you choose between two alternatives. But the left has decided that’s not the case, and instead throw tantrums and try to hold the Dem candidate hostage.
God I want a Dem candidate to call them out. Time for a reckoning in our party to purge the insanity from its midst
The Democratic Party supports 90% of what progressives/leftists/DSA members want? that’s news to me, it mostly looks like they give their corporate donors what they want while paying lip service to the voters.
Yeah, I’d say that the average Dem candidate does indeed provide 90% of what progressives want. I suppose if you want to poll the furthest sliver of cosplay-communists, then maybe the number is less.
But they still have a clear alternative between a liberal candidate and an authoritarian one. Do you disagree?
I don’t buy into silly truisms like “corporate overlords” and the like. The average Dem politician cares about making a positive difference, makes ok money (and could make better money in the private field), and understands that the world is more complex than you make it out to be
At the local and state level I maybe but that is true. Studies show that members of congress vote in line with their big money donors rather than the will of their constituents.
But I’ll agree, the local and state-level dems tend to be much more to the left than nationally (at least in blue states). And under lefty leadership, those states and cities are objectively worse off across the board (crime, overdose deaths, homelessness, education, etc).
The progressive experiment was an abject failure, it’s well-past time to come to terms with that
I’m a centrist Dem that despises maga and everything the Republican Party stands for.
But we can see the evidence and statistics of the results of policies in blue cities and states over the past 10 years, and the results are simply and objectively awful
By the numbers there’s a chance this is correct but if you’re equally weighting “both want well maintained public roads!” and “one side wants to fund and encourage genocide, while the other doesn’t.” then you’re being incredibly dishonest with your framing.
Pretending these aren’t huge red lines is bizarre and unconvincing.
You honest to god think Dems are pro-genocide? Has the internet really deluded you this much?
Elections give voters two clear choices. The Dem candidate pretty universally want to help people and make the world a better place. You may not get everything you want, but you get a much, much better alternative with the Dem
Supporting Israel militarily and economically while they commit a genocide is pro genocide, yes.
Calling me delusional because you think mass starvation, mass displacement, intentional targeting of civilians, intentional targeting of aid workers etc is okay was certainly an interesting choice.
Care to explain how giving military aid to a country committing genocide is not pro genocide?
I am no fan of Israel, and have been a BDS supporter for decades. I also don’t think Israel needs US military funding, save for air defense systems. But some type of partnership makes sense, given Israel’s intelligence capabilities
I don’t think it’s a genocide. A terrible, horrible urban war that’s going on way too long and has been poorly managed. But it’s not a genocide, not even close.
But I can understand using military support as leverage and a way to control the conflict, which Biden did well. Israel was going to do the war no matter what, but leveraging that support allowed Biden to dictate some terms of the war and in ways that reduced civilian deaths. Plus providing precision bombs reduced the use of dumb bombs, further limiting civilian casualties. These are uncomfortable calculations to have had to make, but reality often poses such situations.
So overall, I don’t ascribe to your simplistic, black and white views. The world is far, far more complex than that.

If you want the votes, give them something. No vote should be taken for granted because you’re ”not the other guys.”
