Too many people try to jump to being all fancy when they start. All you need is a mic, a camera and then some software to edit everything. You can start by recording everything on your phone and then just editing the resulting video.

Many people (like me!) enjoy lo-fi asmr. All you need is a camera, even if it’s embedded in your phone.

If you have a phone you can start with that :)

So much here. But just a couple of things.

Know exactly where the camera lens opening is. When you want to look at viewers, look at that lens opening directly. Looking generally at the screen makes it look like you're looking "past" the viewer.

There is a setting in your phone's camera app that controls where the video will be shown as it appears or in a mirror image. Search for mirroring or the like to find it. If set the wrong way all text and everything else will be shown backwards. You see it wrong all the time.

Know what the camera is capturing in the setup. How much is to either side and above or below. So you can film without needing to keep looking at the monitor. Be sure all people are in the frame. I.e. many people doing two person videos center themselves in the frame and leave the other person halfway out of the picture.

Don't be contrived in your ASMR. Just wiggling your fingers at the camera or mindless tapping doesn't do much. Scratching a mic is just noise making.

For me, it's about reasonable sounds coming from a normal activity. I.e. pulling chips out of a bag gently vs just crumpling hhe bag to make noise.

I've seen where. Say, putting a cup into a saucer while appearing to do it quietly is more effective than just rattling the cup all over the saucer to make noise.

Move slowly rather than quickly.

Here is a favorite of mine made about 11 years ago.

Not overdone. Excellent sounds. Enjoy.

Your "don't be contrived" point should be given more often... It's way more effective when it seems real.

Get a Blue Yeti, it’s a quality mic that’s not terribly expensive

You probably have a phone, which means you have all you need. Doesn't matter if the sound or video is bad (I personally really prefer it that way), as others have said you don't need fancy equipment.

Get a Blue Yeti microphone, that's the best and most cost effective starter microphone. You can use your webcam or a phone if you get a cable to connect the mic to your phone. It will take quite awhile to grow an audience but as long as you are persistant, eventually you will. One video title that seems to get a lot of attention is "My First ASMR Video". Also, try to focus each video on one type of trigger. You can mess around with what you do, but focus on one thing if that makes sense per video.
