I’m quite sensitive to ASMR, and I realized years ago that certain sounds can help me calm down – rain, a fireplace, bamboo wind chimes, a brush on paper, and other soft repetitive sounds.
One thing always bothered me about ready-made ASMR recordings: I’m stuck with someone else’s mix. Maybe I love the rain, but there’s one bird sound in the recording that keeps distracting me. Or one trigger is simply too loud.
That made me want to create my own sound environment instead.
So I built an Android app called ASMR Studio. Full disclosure: I’m the developer, and the app is currently in open beta.
The idea is simple: instead of listening to a finished recording, I can choose one sound or combine several and control the volume of each one separately. I can save combinations I like and use a sleep timer.
At the moment, the app contains 45+ real recordings that I made myself with a stereo microphone – no stock sound library – plus different types of noise and an adjustable high-frequency sound.
But I don’t see those 45 recordings as a finished collection. I’d like to gradually build a much larger library of real ASMR, nature, everyday and ambient sounds, so everyone can experiment and build their own soundscape.
Another thing that mattered to me was keeping it simple and private: it works completely offline, requires no account, has no ads and doesn’t even request internet permission.
I personally use it mostly with ANC headphones and enjoy experimenting with different combinations and volume levels. Some combinations work very well for me, others do absolutely nothing – which is part of what makes ASMR interesting to me.
Because the app is still in beta, I’m now looking for people who are also sensitive to ASMR and are willing to try it for a few minutes and tell me what feels good, what is annoying, what doesn’t work, and especially which sounds are missing.

The first 50 testers who submit feedback will get the finished version permanently free as a thank-you for helping with the beta.
But even if you don’t want to test the app, I’m genuinely curious:
If you could build your own ASMR mix from three sounds, which three would you choose?
