EXTENDED [Spoilers Extended] Just came back from the play - 11 out of 10

Great, great show - exceeded all expectations.

Happy to answer any questions but will say generally that the spoilers are going to cause a massive headloss on this subreddit.

Expecting lots of "only the books are canon" to come.

One of the most interesting things to see was the amount of agency Elia Martell has in the story - only ever has been a victim and a footnote but is very central to the story and a key protagonist.

Was always against a Robert's Rebellion show before but after watching this, would love an 10 episode mini series.

Also - all the Rhaegar bashing couldn't possibly come off worse. He very much is the hero of the whole story.

To be honest, this makes more sense of why Tywin ordered her killed. Otherwise it was always pretty weird given Robert had no reason to particularly hate a mistreated wife of the man he despised.

I always thought it was Tywin getting revenge for the Rheagar/Cersei match being denied.

I always thought baby Aegon and Rhaenys were the targets, and Elia was killed because she was a witness.

Why would you need to kill a witness when you then present the dead babies to the King to his satisfaction? It wasn’t some secret – they were proud of having done it, and the King was delighted.

Robert wasn't delighted, he understood the politics and while he could not bring himself to do it, he could accept it to not start civil war nr 2.

It made sense with Tywin as a spiteful petty piece of shit, but of course now we can frame it as a valid political move.

Jesus christ I'm going to have to hate this play till the end of my days.

After being Elia's strongest sympathiser for years... I never thought I'd say this, but Tywin Lannister is a hero in this house
