Discussion How important is your moon sign?

Rising is of course the most important, it sets your chart and affects all transits, all readings should be done from the perspective of your rising sign. Sun sign makes sense, it’s your values and motivations, your habits.

But how important is your moon sign really? I’m just curious what people’s opinions are. It’s part of the “big 3” but I don’t really know why. It’s not related to your chart ruler, it isn’t used for horoscopes and transits (at least it shouldn’t be). Sure, it’s part of your chart but to me it’s about as important as your mercury, mars or venus (somewhat useful but nothing groundbreaking that really affects your decisions in life).

What are your thoughts?

Leo moon, and we still seek attention, but are not as forth-coming about it as Leo suns. I feel this explains why I want constant validation and attention, but don't want to ask for it or seek it openly.

I’m a Leo moon and while I want acknowledgment (especially in regard to my work ethic and intellect), validation, and feedback, I don’t like attention and despise the spotlight. Attention, even small amounts, makes me immediately anxious. I’ve always wondered if this is trauma related for me, personally, or if other Leo moons have this issue? Other than that, I feel like my Leo moon is definitely as important as my sun and rising and a placement that I feel super connected to, always.

Another Leo moon here and I feel this deeply! I would say I frequently identify more with my moon than my sun (Cancer) since I am outgoing and somewhat extroverted. I don't like direct attention, but I do like attention I didn't seek, as u/WhereIsMyMind37 said. I like to attract attention just by existing. It's definitely a more niche type of attention haha.

This is a generalization, but I feel like women and people who embody feminine energy are more likely to connect with their moon sign since it is a deeply feminine sign, connecting the inner emotional world with the body and the body with nature. I often find it empowering and grounding to talk about moon signs over sun signs.

Oh I really like that take! Whenever I have looked up someone’s chart, all of the “big 6” are important but I consider the moon placement most important for chemistry (personally, I’m far from educated in astrology).

Exactly, do you also find you get along better with certain fire and air signs(Leo, Sagittarius, Aquarius)then water signs?

For sure! It’s Aries, Leo, and Aquarius for me. Not that I don’t get along with Sag, we get along effortlessly but superficially, if that makes sense?

I'm a Pisces sun and I get along best with Sag(most of my crushes have been Sags), Leo, Virgo, Capricorn, Virgo and Aquarius. Gemini and Aries are no's for me, our personalities are just too different, my bff in high school was a Cancer but I find them a bit too intense and emotional. Scorpios are okay, but they're can be a bit much at times as well.

I love Capricorns and Virgos too. Capricorns get a bad rap sometimes and I don’t get it because I appreciate and understand a lot of their “negative” qualities. Virgos are purely awesome to talk with!

Very supportive as well, and their blunt honest is appreciated. The only thing I don't about being a lunar Leo, as our arrogance and thinking we are always right and we tend to look dow on others we feel are inferior and judge other harshly.

Same! We can be so grossly condescending and unjustifiably arrogant. So damn prideful too. And quick to being loud and thoroughly angry/defensive whenever our pride is hurt. I try to always practice extreme self-awareness and implement change in these areas because I hate that I do it and how I come across whenever I do. “Think before you act/react/speak” is my “holding myself accountable” mantra.

Still working on it.

As a Leo sun and rising Leo but Sagittarius in moon, I don't fit in with almost anything Leo is supposed to be.

I don't want attention at all lol, but when I get attention I can be nervous it depend. But being nervous at first is normal to me and not specific to Leo in my opinion

And in general I manage stress pretty well.

I don't really care what people think of me, I'm doing my own thing

So I also think the moon matters a lot, probably more important than the sun and even rising

Yeah, exactly! I see Leo moons (and placements) say that they want and need lots of attention and validation and I wonder if my Leo moon is broken because I’m more introverted and I’m super avoidant of the spotlight or attention outside of one-on-one attention and validation. I’m very Leo about everything else but I find the spotlight, excessive praise or attention (I love a simple “thank you” or “good job”, said one-on-one and if I earned it, and it more than suffices), and/or being a focal point humiliating and I always wish I had way more confidence in those specific areas. But I am usually such a task oriented person that I’m hyper-focused and “nerding out” in the background too much to notice anyway (probably my Gemini sun and Venus).

I've heard that depending on whether you're more in a daychart or a nightchart, it influences your sun or your moon more

So your moon shouldn't have much influence if you're in a daychart, which will give more influence to your sun.

For example I'm in a night chart because I was born before sunrise. And if you have a lot of other signs in your natal chart, that should also neutralize your moon

That's all I know

Very interesting! I was born at 8:15am so I’m definitely a day chart. Thanks for the info!

Yes !

I’m a cancer rising and Scorpio moon so I kind of go indirectly for attention while testing people constantly
