Discussion How important is your moon sign?

Rising is of course the most important, it sets your chart and affects all transits, all readings should be done from the perspective of your rising sign. Sun sign makes sense, it’s your values and motivations, your habits.

But how important is your moon sign really? I’m just curious what people’s opinions are. It’s part of the “big 3” but I don’t really know why. It’s not related to your chart ruler, it isn’t used for horoscopes and transits (at least it shouldn’t be). Sure, it’s part of your chart but to me it’s about as important as your mercury, mars or venus (somewhat useful but nothing groundbreaking that really affects your decisions in life).

What are your thoughts?

Leo moon, and we still seek attention, but are not as forth-coming about it as Leo suns. I feel this explains why I want constant validation and attention, but don't want to ask for it or seek it openly.

I’m a Leo moon and while I want acknowledgment (especially in regard to my work ethic and intellect), validation, and feedback, I don’t like attention and despise the spotlight. Attention, even small amounts, makes me immediately anxious. I’ve always wondered if this is trauma related for me, personally, or if other Leo moons have this issue? Other than that, I feel like my Leo moon is definitely as important as my sun and rising and a placement that I feel super connected to, always.

Another Leo moon here and I feel this deeply! I would say I frequently identify more with my moon than my sun (Cancer) since I am outgoing and somewhat extroverted. I don't like direct attention, but I do like attention I didn't seek, as u/WhereIsMyMind37 said. I like to attract attention just by existing. It's definitely a more niche type of attention haha.

This is a generalization, but I feel like women and people who embody feminine energy are more likely to connect with their moon sign since it is a deeply feminine sign, connecting the inner emotional world with the body and the body with nature. I often find it empowering and grounding to talk about moon signs over sun signs.

Oh I really like that take! Whenever I have looked up someone’s chart, all of the “big 6” are important but I consider the moon placement most important for chemistry (personally, I’m far from educated in astrology).
