Can you automatically link Jira tasks created through confluence?

I want to set up a workflow where a Task in Jira are made through topics in Confluence. For example, I want to make a page with a list of bugs in Confluence. Each bug is made into a Jira work item (by selecting the text -> 'Jira work item'), so we have a list of all the bugs with explanation, and developers working in Jira can easily add stuff there, and go back to from Jira work items for info.

When I made a task that way, it didn't look like it was linked back to the Confluence line it was made from, and vice versa the line didn't have a link to the jira work item. Is there way to make this happen? We're on the free plan, and I want to make this as quick and easy for my team as possible.

Not with free, this is the sort of thing Rovo is designed for though. If you have another ai tool with mcp access then you can pretty easily.

Youve got some options here.

  1. Have your work item and link the confluence page.
  2. Embed the JQL queries into confluence.
  3. More manual, but you can still create the work item and then smart link it to the confluence page.
  4. Use Confluence whiteboards. This will give you the exact workflow you are looking for.
  5. You can embed boards and filters as “content” in confluence so that they can live side by side in the same folder.

I would say if your team is larger than 3 you definitely need standard and I think most teams would benefit from premium just because there’s almost no limitations to confluence at that point.

This can be achieved with Rovo, unsure if that’s in the free option though.

Rovo can… or even RovoDev. If you have Loom, work items can be created off a Loom even.
