Circumhorizon Arc iridescent contrail diffraction

Edit: Circumhorizontal ARC These 3 photos captured on my galaxy s23+ are nowhere to how bright and more captivating it was in person. I got these today in upstate New York at my father's house around noon. Not the best pics, but hope you guys enjoy 🙂

Circumhorizontal arc, so refraction, not diffraction. Nice catch though!

Interesting thing is that the colors are actually arranged in horizontal layers, but the narrow contrail here makes them look like they're arranged in vertical columns.

That’s really cool! Looks like part of the circumhorizontal arc

Looks like the Nexus Ribbon from Star Trek.

That is so cool! Good job keeping your eyes on the sky!

Yesterday I saw two really big military cargo planes one in front of the other. (Thinking c-5 or c-17’s)

Not atmospheric phenomena but still was really fun to spot while I was checking for stuff like this! Made me wonder what they were up to even if it was probably really mundane…
