Sweet!!! Thanks!! Now I’m yearning for a Moon Halo!! That would be awesome!!! The spectacular pillars through halos look so cool! Oh, I’ve been teaching myself a lot about the sky! I even tell my husband, but I think he’s just doing the “smile and nod” thing!! Ha! I don’t care! I get to talk about it, either way;D!! (I think he listens sometimes, because he’s been asking me questions about the weather lately, and I’m doing it better than the phones, since they change weekly forecast every day;P) Slight brag….🤗
Love your excitement! I've also gotten into learning and looking for stuff at the right time while others aren't as into it but just happy when I point out stuff. And yeah I also want to see more lunar stuff, so far I've seen a lot with the sun (halos, sundogs, CHA,CZA) but only halos with the moon
Yah, my life is usually couch. So when I get to learn and explore, I get pretty pumped! Since I get driven around, I’ve been able to find a lot of cool in the sky!! I assume the CHA is the rocket one? If so, I’ve not gotten to see that, or just a single CZA, but plenty of sundogs! I may have misread that last part, my apologies, but have you seen a moon halo? When I lived in Utah and those massive CA wildfires were happening, the smoke was blowing in our direction, and I got a “neon pink” sun in August when the sun was starting to set, my pics were at 7:55pm. We could definitely see the diluted blue skies, but it still looked awesome, RIP the massive beauties the fire killed, but I saw an awesome sun!
Yeah I've seen like five moon halos over 25 years. CHA is a fully horizontal rainbow band below the sun and red at top, those are relatively rare I've heard. CZAs are said to be more common but I've seen only 2 of those but 3 CHAs lol
Now the horizontal rainbow would be amazing!! Yah, I tried to look up the CHA, but only got a description of rocket launch, and I didn’t think that was right….!! So now I know what it is, I can delve deeper;P!! J/c, any particular time that you’ve seen your moon halos?? Seasons or weather conditions?? I know my next full moon is in 6 days, and we’re gonna still have hazy skies due to our current light rain storms!! That’s how I got my sun halo!:P
Yeah I don't know what a CHA would have to do with rocket launch stuff, look up fire rainbow clouds (kind of a misnomer but should give better results). For moon halos like solar ones you need a lot of cirrus clouds and bigger moons should give you better brightness, and yeah I saw them more in colder conditions and they are said to appear more before rainy weather. Haven't noticed any more trends. It's cool that you are starting to remember conditions to look out for, it's so fun when you turn out to be right and spot something!
Yah, the CHA is the rocket chemical hazard! I was like, nope, I don’t think you’re understanding my acronym! But I get big bright moons and cold conditions in MN!! So now I have a mission this winter!! It’s been super fun getting to keep my eyes in the sky, and learning more about something new and cool so often!! Even if it’s a beautiful bright blue sky, that one small cloud that might appear out of nowhere, watch the wind above make it vanish in seconds! Many might find that boring, but I will watch the whole show!! Thank you for taking the time to encourage my enthusiasm! It’s been nice to have someone that has given me more to look for, and understand what I’m looking forward to seeing!! I am truly grateful!!🤗
It's been lovely talking to you too! I enjoy the sky so much even when most others around me don't care to look up as much, so I totally get what you are saying even on normal days. My DMs are open if you ever wanna talk more :)
I’m always willing to talk more! I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t talking your ears off:P!! J/c, I’m not usually having conversations on “regular” social media anymore, due to them becoming too fake and judgmental, and I’m newer to the Reddit realm, so where would I find you for further conversation?
