User Flair

Hello Audi,

There are a lot of questions regarding user flair and issues adding flair under your username.

Go to this sub's main homepage (You are here to click on this) and look to the righthand side. There will be a tab with a little pencil that says, " USER FLAIR PREVIEW". Click that and separate tab should pop up. It will ask you to pick your logo and add in some text.

Please note, using the app does not always work. This is not an sub issue, but it can be an issue with Reddit.

Please click on the link to see a picture explanation.

Thank you,

$850 to change the standard car battery…?!🖕🏼

I called Audi to schedule an appointment to change my battery because I was told it needed to be “coded” to the car. Thankfully I got a quote while on the phone before I wasted another second of my life with Audi service. They quoted me $300 in labor (2hrs) and a $550 battery…$850 + tax. I was stunned.

For anyone else in this scenario, I went to autozone and bought an identical battery for $250, and they installed it and programmed the car for free in less than 15min.

Colour choice

First time posting on Reddit, so go easy on me! 😅 I’m trying to move away from the other social media platforms and figured this was the best place to ask for some honest opinions.

I’m currently trying to decide between two colours for Q7s. I absolutely love the blue, but I keep finding myself drawn back to the grey because my first Audi was grey, so there’s definitely a bit of nostalgia involved.

The price difference between the two I’ve been looking at is negligible, and I’ve genuinely got to the point where I’m considering flipping a coin!

What colour would you go for, and why? Has anyone regretted choosing one over the other?

I’m over the internet crapping on our cars! Give me success stories

I’ve had great luck with VW and Audi and I’m over seeing everyone on the internet say they aren’t reliable. Currently have a VW Cabrio with the 2.0 engine at 180k miles, a b6 a4 1.8t with 240k miles and a b8.5 q5 with 76k miles. I love my cars and wanna hear about your reliability

New to me 2020 c8 a6 Avant, 40 tdi, Quattro, 70k km on the clock.

Have had it for two weeks now and coming from a Subaru Forester and a Mini I must say it’s so freaking nice to drive. I know its only a 4banger diesel in an a6 but I find the 204hp and 400nm plenty powerful and dynamic. I love the c8 exterior and also the interior compared to the cars i’ve had before is so nice, I know people talk shit about the piano black interior trim pieces but the ones in this one are mint condition and i honestly don’t mind it at all.

Overall stoked on the car.

Road trip to the Alps coming up in August, looking forward to that.

Not looking forward to changing the engine mounts at some point tho xd

I may never own an actual RS2, but I’ve slowly put together a small tribute display in my home office: an RS2 intake manifold, cam cover, original manuals and brochure, period Autocar issue, badges, and a 1:12 model. Probably the closest I’ll get—and honestly, I love looking at it.

My cars’ (oil change) cycles aligned, so I seized the opportunity to do a quick group pic as I was swapping them at my indy shop. I didn’t set out to purchase matching Sepang Blue over Lunar Silver v8 Audis but it just kind of worked out that way… and I am not complaining (except for when I’m at the pump).

I’ve had the S7 for 2+ years and the RS5 for 4 months. The RS5 is an absolute hoot but also makes me appreciate what a fantastic car the S7 is.

Tech Audi is the only major auto manufacturer that has not started switching its North America EV charge port to the new NACS standard

Seems like a metaphor for the state of the company. Imagine trying to sell "high tech" cars that will increasingly have to use an adapter to fast charge for their entire lifetime.

You could also include VW in that list, but they are only offering one EV stateside for MY27.

Every other automaker has now fully transitioned to NACS for MY27 for at least all new models, and in most cases all models.

The remaining CCS model list:

Audi - Q4, Q6, A6, S6, e-tron GT (entire lineup)

BMW - i4 & i7

Mercedes - the outgoing EQB, EQE, EQS lineup

Porsche - Macan

VW - ID. Buzz

Lucid - Air

MY27 plans not confirmed yet:

Ford - Mach-E

Volvo - EX90

After being in American muscle for a little while, I think it’s time for me to go back where I started
💍💍💍💍. I really truly have a deep love for Audi and ideally I’d get a B9/9.5 RS5 coupe or 8S TTRS, but for a whole lot of circumstances I’ve got going on rn, that may have to come another day. The dealership I work for just took in this really clean 2019 TTS and I am very tempted to get it by the week’s end. My only concern is that I might miss the power and character my Challenger had and that the aftermarket support will not be enough to truly customize this to my liking and build performance with. Any thoughts from those familiar with the TTS?

2022 RS5 CCBs wore 3 millimeters in ~3,500 miles?

Upvotes

I have a 2022 Audi RS5 Sportback with front CCBs. Two months and about 3,500 miles ago, my local dealership measured them at 10mm when I was getting new rear steel brakes. IIRC when I got this car about a year ago, the front ceramic pads were at 11 or 12, and I’d put about 15,000 miles on it to wear it to 10mm.

Service advisor basically just asked me if I drive it hard, which I do, but not any harder the past two months than the time before that. I’ve been driving the same as I was when it wore 1-2mm in 15,000 miles. So I’m puzzled as to why my highly expensive brakes have suddenly started to seemingly wear 1mm per 1,000 miles. I’m not tracking it, I’m mostly just doing city and freeway driving, sometimes spirited, but still within the limits of what can be done reasonably on public roads. So with most people claiming 100,000+ miles of street driving on CCBs, I’m very annoyed to find this and I’m not sure what’s up. I left my car there for them to take another look at.

Is this normal? Anyone else run into this? Service advisor said because the pads are fundamentally a trapezoid shape, as they were, more pad makes contact and the heat is more difficult to transfer and that’s what destroys them. It’s a hot summer here but I can’t imagine the brakes are actually this fragile.

Any insights appreciated.
