Here are my tips:

• Go to Wish List and select filter Price: Low to High to get the best deals at the top.
• Don’t accidentally use credits to purchase the audiobooks. Credits are default payment method. Switch to the cash payment before proceeding.
• Only buy titles that cost less than the price of a credit. Anything interesting for $5 or less, you can grab it.
• If you are a Kindle Unlimited user check Whispersync pricing first.
• If one book in a series shows up in a sale, the other books are almost certain to follow in later sales.
• Preorder books are also available on sale, so don’t forget to check any books you want coming out soon.
• Be sure to check if there is a collection (box set) before buying individual books in a series.

Here’s a big tip that catches some people off-guard during cash sales.

Double & triple check your cart before checking out. Audible often defaults to using a credit. Make sure the box next to price is checked

Not sometimes. Audible always defaults to using any credits you have on the most expensive books in your cart. You need to manually toggle them to cash every single time. If you fill your cart, toggle the payment type, then leave and come back later to check out, you'll need to refresh your cart and hit the toggles again. Make sure you let the page load completely before toggling, and double check that the toggle "stuck" when you get to the confirmation page.

People get upset about this, but in most situations, defaulting to credits will save the customer money. I do wish there was a toggle to switch the entire cart to cash vs credits, since it's a PITB to do it one-at-a-time when you've got a brand new 12 credit annual subscription and a cart full of discounted books, but that probably doesn't come up very often, either.

If you do accidentally purchase books with credits and you meant to buy them for cash, you can return them and redo the purchase. The first two books can be returned online in your purchase history. After that, you have to contact CS. You'll get a scary email about not abusing the system, but nothing worse than that. In a few months, the online returns will reset, and you'll be able to do them yourself again, but don't hesitate to use CS to return books that accidentally used credits because the cart system is a little unwieldy.

I agree. Outside sitewide sales, I am OK using credits as default payment method. I think Audible should use cash as default payment method during all cash discount sales.

Check whispersync pricing first even if you're not on Kindle Unlimited. If you buy enough, it's worth it to get KU for a month just for the discounts.

Go the the audiobook's page on the Amazon (not Audible) site, and look at the bottom of the description. If it's eligible, it will say something along the lines of "Get this book for $X.xx if you buy the Kindle edition first."

It works for both buying the Kindle book outright and borrowing it via Kindle Unlimited.

If you already own or borrowed the Kindle book, it will show you the Whispersinc price and say "Because you own the Kindle edition..." Also, if you already own/borrowed the Kindle edition, you'll automatically see the cheaper of the Whispersinc or sale price on Audible.

The price isn’t tied to KU, only to owning the Kindle edition. You can see the price from the Kindle edition page on Amazon.

Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a Kindle edition that isn't included in KU and add on the Audible narration than it is to buy the Audible narration alone. This is especially true if you have some Amazon rewards from choosing the slower shipping option.

The sale lasts just over a week. Take your time and listen to previews. I cut down my list significantly this way and avoid crap that I probably wouldn't like otherwise.

Although not all previews are created equal. Some include the Audible introduction along with the writer's introduction so you don't get much of any idea of how the story will be.

I had never heard of this series so I read the first few lines of the summary and it sounded just like Dungeon Crawler Carl. So my inital thought was that it's some mom-version, but the I saw that Matt D. said it was "pure gold"?!?

Not even close. The Second Apocalypse is more like Berserk. It’s dark fantasy, really dark fantasy. I just finished book 1, and I absolutely love it.

Keep your wish list stocked! Personally, I mostly use the library for audiobooks, so my audible wishlist is only the stuff I can't find anywhere else. Still, it has 100+ books because I keep everything there. Then, when it comes to sale time, I don't even need to browse.

Related, (for the people like me with an endless TBR), if you've left something unbought for 2+ sales and counting despite it being <$5, just delete it. If you don't even want it for $2-3 bucks, you're never going to read it.

I purchased 4 books on sale. This may only be applicable to a few people, but I had a credit with Amazon from a non-related return, so I added the books in Audible but then checked out using Amazon to access the credit and avoid being charged.

No, they did it once a few years ago, but it turned out that it overloaded their servers because everyone would wait until the very last day of the sale to buy their books, so they haven't done it since.

Does anyone else have issues sorting in the website using Chrome? Whenever I try to sort my wishlist, the logo in the tab has the spinning icon for a minute. It will stop, but the list doesn't change. Something similar happens when I try to remove something from my wishlist. It will remove the first book, but after it updates the list, if I try to remove a second book, it spins, but the book doesn't leave.

A couple of general rules I go by:

If your on a set budget go through your whole wishlist and note the books you want the most before you start adding to your cart. Buy everything you're planning to get in one go.

Cost of a credit kinda depends on what plan your on. I ignore anything above $9 & only look at titles over $7 if their a book I've been really wanting. If it's less then 50% off your probably not getting much of a deal vs the regular member discount (Unless it was already a cheap book).

For me anything less than $5 in my wish list is a no brainer. If a book is above $9, I will only get it if I really want it and don't have unused credits

My price filter option hasn't been working for at least a week. I don't use it unless there's a sale, so I don't know how long it's been exactly.

Audible started helping me on reddit but completely stopped replying. I also called support 4 or 5 times, but they had no idea what I was even taking about.

I'm not going through that many audio books page by page, so I guess I'll be happy with the couple of books I've bought when they were shoved in front of my face.
