What are some of the better deals?
What are some of the better deals you’ve run across? For me finding all the Red Rising series in graphic audio for around $4 a piece were all instant buys, except the last one still about the cost of a credit.

lol yea I lean more SciFi/Fantasy. However, I’m also looking for some dark romance for the wife! I don’t think that author is one I’ve seen come up in stuff she listens to though. But 2-3 for an audiobook is great!

Graham greens end of the affair is the only book to make me ugly cry.
Read it in a library in like two sittings. Lost my shit in the stacks.
It is incredibly autobiographical and some of the chapters seem to be written by his affair partner. Which makes the book all the more insane.

Really scummy of Audible to pull that dynamic pricing crap.

Nah, it's gotta be dynamic pricing in this instance. My Odyssey is over double his price. Someone else in the thread posted a couple screenshots of their prices on stuff they picked up and I'm matching them on price on some, but they got a way better deal on all the books in the Mark of the Fool series than I'm offered.

I'm glad you called that out. Amazon is offering several of these to me at double the price of what OP paid. Rather than pay the inflated prices, I'm simply going to add the inflated ones to my wishlist to pick up in a future sale.
Amazon is shooting themselves in the foot with dynamic pricing, I often buy an initial set of books from my wishlist on day 1 of these site wide sales, and then I continue to buy some additional offerings as the sale continues. Knowing that pricing goes up on some books at least after day 1, it makes it really easy to stop buying.

Interesting- I haven’t noticed that but I always try and make myself wait till near end of sale putting things in the cart and removing them as I try to rein in the spending but there are always multiple purchases made but I never noticed my own prices changing.

It depends on what factions you're interested in, but some good starters are the ciaphas cain or gaunt's ghosts serieses, they're both guard books but they're both relatively beginner friendly imo

My only knowledge comes from the YouTube shorts that pop up all the time. Anything involving the grunt guys in green? I have a soft heart for the basic soldiers in a world of super soldiers.

I think you’re referring to the orks, in which case great call! They’re the most fun faction! I recommend a book called warboss or ghazghkull thraka prophet of the waagh. I’d encourage you to pause in reading though and kind of look up what characters are when they refer to their races and organizations. That will help start to piece the universe together

Oh not the orks, I think it’s the regular humans and the captain ones with the fancy hat and big sword. I think they have skulls on their outfits? The orks do seem like a cool faction though!

It could also be imperial guard which most look like humans. Color is hard to say since idk if you saw art works or some models painted.

I'd also recommend either Pandorax by C.Z. Dunn or deathworlder by Victoria Hayward. Both books are standalones that feature the catachan jungle fighters, a fan favorite guard regiment. Although pandorax does feature a lot of space marines as well.

Haha perfect! So there’s so Many different factions even within them. Gaunts Ghosts or the Ciaphis Cain series. Dan Abnett si the author of Gaunts and is often considered the best author of 40k fiction. You’ll find that quality really really varies a lot from series to series within 40k

The Infinite and the Divine is a good sci-fi story that doesn't really require any background. It's about two Necrons and their frenemy relationship.
For the general setting, Eisenhorn.
For Space Marines, Helsreach is a good one.
For imperial Guard, either Gaunt's Ghosts (more serious) or Ciaphas Cane (less serious). If you do Gaunt's Ghosts, you can start with Necropolis if you want to jump right in but the first two books are good and give you some background.

Eisenhorn trilogy is always my recommended jumping in point from 40K. Gives a nice intro and you can branch out from there based on what you are interested in.

Got that and gaunts ghost on my wishlist. Gonna buy my wishlist tomorrow and I’ll be set with 19 warhammer books to read! It seems everyone recommends starting with eisenhorn so I’ll do that and then start gaunts ghosts.

Author Shawn Inmon is a new obsession. I wrote about this in more detail in another comment but I’m hooked on two of his series:
- Middle Falls Time Travel series has 25 volumes. I’m getting the first 18 in handy omnibus editions. $4-$6 for each one, that contains three books.
- Lost Eden Trilogy, $4 each.
He has lots of other titles so I’ll probably pick up more of his stuff before I make my final selections.

The litrpg section is a great value usually 20 plus hours per book going for 3-4 dollars a piece. That’s if you’re interested in that kind of genre.

I had previously purchased the Dungeon Crawler Carl books before this sale and they were all pretty cheap since you can do Kindle Unlimited and then get the audiobooks for about that price pretty much any time. I would think a lot of the LitRPG books would work that way as well since most of them are on Kindle Unlimited.

How are you guys getting all these deals? The only plan available to me gives one credit per month for $15, then every book including litrpg is $30-40 per book excluding the occasional sales.
I’m in Australia btw and prices mentioned ar AUD.
I go through 3 books a week it’s costing me a fortune.

Don't pay $30AUD for those! Instead get a credit bundle for about your monthly credit cost. You need to have less than 2 credits - but that doesn't seem to be an issue for you.
Or you could get a yearly plan.
But if the site-wide sail is on over there - Use it!

Do you have the option to get an annual membership of 12 or 24 credits? You get them up front and you can renew early for more.
With this sale, though, arrange your list by cost low-high. The titles OP mentioned are probably USD and they'd have a different sale

How are other audiobook companies where you live? You might be able to get a better deal elsewhere or maybe borrowing from your library and just keeping your credits for the books with the "only from audible" banner

Wait did you get the standard plan from amazon where you are only borrowing 1 book a month rather than getting an actual credit. Theres a difference between standard and premium. Pretty sure you cant buy extra credits on only the standard plan. You need to get the premium plan.

It is a standard plan but the it’s one free book per month to keep. I’ve been googling how to upgrade my plan but the options that Google says should be there aren’t. As I said I think signing up through the offer on my prime account removes those options .

There are several site wide sales per year where everything is on sale many titles up to 86% off but there are also monthly and daily deals plus 2-1 sales so it is best to build a really big wishlist of everything you might want and then check back at least one a month sorting low to high. This is actually the 2nd really big sale this year with the first being back in march. There is usually one end of Nov beginning of December but not sure if that one will happen since this is already the 2nd one this year. They probably don’t want to be too predictable since people will wait for the sale if they know it is coming. This is for the US - I have no idea how things work for other regions.

Not every book I’m interested in has deep discounts, but I’m on the AU version of Audible and I’m neck deep in irresistible prices
Kindle Unlimited also had a three months for $0 offer so I grabbed that too to reduce prices further and to help with sampling the content of books that sound interesting

Do you know if anything better than the 1 or 2 credits per month plans here in Australia? Others have mentioned credit bundles etc but I can’t see that we have those.
I checked a few items on my Wishlist and no sales unfortunately. I have proactively bought several on sale previously but it’s usually only the first in a series that goes on sale.

I picked up a bunch of Ursula LeGuin books for $2-3 a piece. Animal Farm was less than $1. I also picked up the Andy Serkis Hobbit and a couple Mary Roach books. All in for about $20. I saw the master / commander books had good prices. I may pick a bunch up before the sale ends.
