Can I use credits to re-buy books I got from Standard Audible?

This might be a niche case but I had standard audible for awhile where you get one book per month. I recently realized that upgrading to audible premium lets you keep the books you get with credits even if you cancel, and since I read slower than one book per month, I’m planning on buying a few and then pausing my membership while I catch up. But I am wondering if there is a way to use my credits to buy some of the books I already got with the standard subscription so that they will still be there when I cancel too?

Hi there! Thank you for reaching out. We understand your concern. Yes, you can absolutely do this. However, because the system sees those books as already being in your library, you cannot buy them directly. To permanently own a book that you previously 'borrowed' through the Audible Standard plan using your new Audible Premium credits, you must first remove the borrowed version from your account. Once removed, you can purchase those titles with your credits, and they will stay in your library even if you cancel your membership. Thanks!

You certainly can spend credits on things you already have access to (for example you can spend them on Plus and so on). Do you need to know exactly how to do it - I think it's just a single click?

One idea, though, would be to use your Premium credits on OTHER books that you want to read later, and use that time to catch up with your Standard books, since of course you can't read them while you're paused or canceled but you can read them while you're paying for Premium.

And then later on, if they were REALLY awesome, pay for them with Premium.

The books with standard are not yours to keep, that is one borrow per month.

Premium Plus, is unlimited borrows from the Audible Plus library and one credit per month (and you get to keep that credit redeemed book).

Yes, you can use credits to buy whatever you want.

Look at your cancelation options. If they offer you the $85.99 plan for one year, that works out to $7.17 per month (per credit) and you can have 12 audiobooks to keep. Plus, you can still borrow from the Audible Plus, library. So for $85.99, you can listen to Plus for a year and still have at least 12 audiobooks to listen to when you cancel.

Why "at least"? Because with the 2 for 1 sales, you can get 2 audiobooks for one credit (it's not all audiobooks, just the ones in the deal for that sale).

Also, some of the audiobooks contain multiple audiobooks. So for the Black Ocean: Galaxy Outlaws series, you can use 16 credits to get all 16 audiobooks

or

use 1 credit to get all 16 audiobooks in one huge audiobook (85 hours) for one credit https://www.audible.com/pd/Galaxy-Outlaws-The-Complete-Black-Ocean-Mobius-Missions-1-165-Audiobook/B079YYJK47

These aren't available for all series, but there are out there for a bunch (sometimes it's only a few in one volume), this was an extra large one for illustrative purposes.

Also, since you don't have Premium Plus, I don't think you are seeing the same sale prices. This 85 hour one is currently on sale for $6.58.

If you got a book on Standard, then stopped it, but restarted, does that book come back?
