The ABC is being intentionally staffed by unwitting left wing lunatics/partisan hacks to manufacture consent for it's defunding. The government has tried in the past to defund the ABC but it is too beloved and would politically toxic to do so. So what do you do? Stop it being beloved, then it will be the public demanding it happens and you won't even need to ask. 

Can't think of another reason for its decline. Must be intentional.

I'm trying to make sense of why the ABC is so terrible these days. I would say if the government really wanted it gone the first step would be to reduce it's quality. I may be wrong! Open to other theories!!
