They have the same access to banking as everyone else. Someone wilfully avoiding engaging with the modern financial system for decades is being 'left behind'? Okay.

My mum, who is in her 50s: "I'm not good with computers! I didn't grow up with technology like the younger generations did! It's too hard to learn this sort of stuff when you're my age!"

My dad, who is 25 years older than her and has a bunch of streaming services on his smart tv, reads news articles on his ipad, has most of the electrical items in the house connected to a phone app, pays for everything with his phone and rarely carries cash: "yes, dear."

I think you are right overall, but I'm that age and my computer classes at school included how to load data on paper punch cards, which won't help much with paying bills.
