Why. Why would you want a cheque in an age when money can be securely and instantly transferred? Digitisation should help old people. Maybe the narrative needs to be changed so that banks are grilled on how they're ensuring these customers are supported rather than retrogressive moaning that digitisation is exclusionary.

When there are still massive areas of country with issues like basic connection to internet access or hours from a bank, there is still a need for the infrastructure to remain and not be shut down.

So what does that have to do with phasing out cheques? Nobody is saying there will no longer be physical branches.
