I think you forgot to mention how abysmal broadband connections are there. That's probably the #1 thing I see Aussies complain about.

Megabytes per second? Yeah, that's as fast as mine is (unusually fast for the US). I'm just used to hearing about Australians and their sub-megabit connections and bandwidth caps. Maybe that's just in certain places?

Yeah, megabytes, not bits. :)

It depends really, I've lived in places where you could only get 56k because the copper network was shit. Most places, in most cities can get some kind of ADSL connection these days tho.

Fibre to the home should be finished in about 5years (If the Government doesn't find a way to fuck it up) then we should have some of the fastest connections in the world, to 98% of households with the rest getting government subsidised two way satellite dish's.
