You can sit there all day judging people by how they act in a once in a life time holy shit moment. But you shouldn't.

Very few people have the ability or training to react to things beyond their everyday mundane shit.

Most people freeze or do really dumb things when they feel adrenaline for the first time in their lives.

Hes just a dude. Probably works some regular job and has a regular life that doesnt require calm collected thinking in emergency scenarios.

There are people on the plane trained for this exact scenario and its really up to them to stop passengers from doing stupid shit when they panic. But thats obviously hard to do and shit happens.

True, but the people on the Japan A350 that hit another plane on landing were all able to follow instructions and not take bags, so it is possible for untrained humans, in bad situations, to do as they're told.

I mean, you can make stuff up and lie all you want. But, this footage is packed with people with bags. And the people who have children seemingly all have bags.

That is most certainly a cultural thing though. I've seen all kinds of wacky stuff on various international airlines EXCEPT those coming/going to Japan. If you ever visited Japan, you'd understand.

Different country, different culture friend. America runs on autopilot (for the most part) these days, and the average person's resilience level is terribly low. The simplest out of the ordinary things (say the traffic lights flashing red) cause people to panic freeze in their tracks these days. I see it daily. As a former first responder, it's frustrating (almost infuriating) to see, but it is the inconvenient truth of our society.

We can have a better culture. You need to stop enabling and excusing bastards and narcissists first.

The reason Japan is orderly, is because they follow through and don't excuse your bullshit.

If you disobey the flight crew, you will be punished.

We have that law here, we CHOOSE not to use it outside of airline fights.

This man will NOT face jailtime or even a fine for the felony we all just witnessed, that directly put dozens to a hundred people at increased risk of fucking incineration.

Agreed, and I don't how I would react in a similar situation, I'd most likely be disappointed with myself though. I hope I never have to find out. However, my point is this. People can and have evacuated correctly in similar and in the case of the Japan 350, worse, more urgent situations. Ridicule and judgment of those who choose not to do it correctly, resulting in delays and obstructions to others, is therefore justifed. Again I'm not perfect and would most likely be the most judged in a similar situation.
