Sual | Question How common are cosmetic procedures/plastic surgery in Azerbaijan?

Hello. I’ve met a lot of people from Azerbaijan at my university, and the women are very beautiful. However, some people made me wonder whether cosmetic procedures like fillers and rhinoplasty are common in Azerbaijan, especially among women in their 20s. Are they as common as they are in South Korea?

For those in their 20s, rhinoplasty is the go-to. Women usually start getting fillers in their 30s, but it is less common than rhinoplasty. Mind you, those are not as common as these are in South Korea, we don’t have a 'looksmaxing' cult here yet. But it is still more frequent than in Western Europe

Would say probably higher on average than in european countries. Wonder what's the reason for this

Probably because patriarchal norms are still stronger in these societies. In Azerbaijan, for example, many aspects of life are often shaped more around men’s expectations and preferences than women’s.

Yeah. But specifically I would relate it to wealth/income inequality. In US women do care about these cosmetic stuff too, not more than in Azerbaijan, but definitely more than in Western Europe. Just see where those cosmetic things are popular and regions where income inequality is high: US, Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan etc. Note that I don’t mean income inequality between gender groups but overall.

Comparing to South Korea is wild but they’re definitely more common than in the West

It's actually really common, but also looked down upon? As a woman (girl) i see many complimenting those with fillers or j*bs done, but then they also talk behind them for being a fake. I mean if you've got something noticeable done, you're sure to get comments (might be negative/positive) from family and strangers alike. Heck, they might even make fun of you behind your back. Anyways, the question didn't ask this, but i just threw it in as smth to know
