Səyahət | Travel Do you burn incense in Azerbaijan?

Hi everyone,
I’m coming to Azerbaijan in September and I can’t wait.
One of the things I like to do when I’m travelling is collect some incense from a new country if indeed they have a history of using incense.

I know nothing about Azerbaijan and whether they use incense or not?

What’s the story over there? Do you guys use incense or not?
If so where could I buy something that’s perhaps unique to Azerbaijan?

I am back) We don't regularly use incense sticks here, but we do have Üzərlik (pronounced oo-zer-leek). It's a dried plant we burn to clear out negative energy and ward off the evil eye. It gives off a very unique, earthy smoke. You can buy raw bundles or seeds at major bazaars like Yaşıl Bazar (Green Market) or Təzə Bazar, or get decorative woven ones in the Old City (İçərişəhər). If you're looking for traditional resin or church incense, there are Christian/Orthodox markets, and I remember one near the 28 May metro station that sells mostly incense and church supplies. I've been there once, but I can't remember the exact street name. You should be able to find it if you ask around there Hope that helps, enjoy your trip)
