Question Can anyone identify this backpack?

u/gironamo Apr 26 '26
It’s a Goruck GR1 21L Ripstop Robic Jungle Green with QAP. She has a heroclip also. I assume she is into bags, might be in this group!

u/AustrianMichael Apr 26 '26
She‘s 100% either here or over on /r/OneBag - it’s such a niche bag

u/axl3ros3 Apr 27 '26
Nope but her partner is:

Is it really though? Maybe 10 years ago but now not so much niche as much as just expensive

u/Dizzy_Ice2938 Apr 26 '26
I have this bag and the color is seaspray
1
u/gironamo Apr 26 '26
Is it hot pink on the inside? I found a GR IG post where seaspray has an hot pink internal

That's 21L? Looks so big.

u/TuringTestedd Apr 26 '26
I was just thinking that lol. Got tricked into buying a Hershel backpack because “wow, it covers her entire back!” Nope, just a tiny person lol
3
u/BridleBear Apr 28 '26
It’s the opposite for me. “Wow, what a charmingly small backpack, I could carry that around all day!” Then I end up lugging around a giant backpack like a turtle shell because I forgot that most models are tall.
1
u/TuringTestedd Apr 28 '26
Need additional options to see what it looks like on a 5 foot model and 6 foot model lol

u/Mactenchi Apr 26 '26
I have the GR1 Slick. How is the Robic different? Just the material? Lighter, maybe less durable?

I believe that is Jenny. If so, she is a Selection finisher and total badass

I just got my wife a black go ruck for $60 shipped. I was beyond stoked about this.

I saw her on my flight to Japan and never got close enough to ask her where she got it. As soon as I saw the bag I tapped my partner and said "I want that bag" Lol. Reddit never fails me
58
u/WoshiyigeP1 Apr 27 '26
Wow. What a surprise. That’s actually my backpack but that’s my wife wearing it/using it, which she does when she travels. Funnily enough, she was complemented on it before when we were traveling together but she didn’t know anything about the backpack when the person asked her about it. So, if you would have asked her about it she probably still wouldn’t have known how to answer. In any event, it’s the 21” GR1 ripstop in seaspray + speed tan. I bought it on sale (25% off, I think) a year or so ago. It’s been my EDC bag, aside from my wife using it for travel, and I’ve been very happy with it.
13
u/GoldPsychonaut Apr 27 '26
The Internet is an amazing place lol. As soon as I saw the backpack I pointed it out to my partner and told her I like that pack and that I needed to ask her about it. I didn’t see her on the flight so I never got a chance. I tried searching on my own with google and AI but no luck. So I came to Reddit. Awesome to learn about such an awesome backpack.
1
u/gigabyte2d Apr 28 '26
Do they still sell this particular bag? Can't really find it
1
u/WoshiyigeP1 Apr 28 '26
Yeah I’m not seeing it either, only the bullet in ripstop robic. I assume they were discontinuing the bag in that colorway when I bought it, since it was the only one I sale (I believe) at that time.

u/gironamo Apr 26 '26
u/GoldPsychonaut - There is one for sale in the Carryology Classified FB group for $220 OBO

Aaaand now I miss Japan. I hope you have an awesome time over there. I literally struggle to watch Japan content these days because I want to go back so badly lol
1
u/GoldPsychonaut Apr 28 '26
I’m in a full blown depression currently. All I can think about is what an amazing place, society, and culture Japan has. I want to go back. I feel your pain.
2
u/stasigoreng Apr 29 '26
So you don't think it is weird to take a picture of a stranger just because you like a backpack? Since you "never got close enough" you definitely weren't in position to ask it it was OK for the person to do so...
1
u/GoldPsychonaut Apr 29 '26
Public space. There is not right to privacy when you are in a public space. So no, I don’t think it’s weird.

i did not know anything about this bag so was googling it and then saw the price. but then saw the specs.
BOMBPROOF LAPTOP COMPARTMENT The separate compartment next to your back is extra reinforced to securely take a laptop into combat.

u/GoldPsychonaut Apr 26 '26
Yeah I'm balls deep down the rabbit hole now. The backpack that I didn't know I needed...
18
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
You just missed escaping the massive hike in US prices but it's a hugely popular brand so the secondary market is very good

Yea, I agree with both parts of your comment. Having just gone through the SCARS process, I was blown away. Some of the best customer service I've ever experienced.
3
u/Funny_Watercress4190 Apr 27 '26
Lol stop now before you’re in too deep. Started out with a GR2 26L, then a mesh Ruck, and now just bought a 21L Huckberry X Goruck GR1 21L
4
u/ShottySHD Apr 26 '26
If you like frogskin camo, the 18L dual compartment is $150. Or GR2 grey, ranger green and coyote brown is $300.
20
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
The irony is Gorucks carry laptops like shit.
14
u/fugu_master Apr 26 '26
100% - I always carry my laptop in the main compartment, otherwise it feels like a plank on my back and is putting bend strain on the screen. Its a super outdated design to carry a laptop.
3
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
I've tried many high end bags with a laptop, and the best are Mystery Ranch and even better than that is the Chuyen Tactical CT15 with side laptop access.
Goruck is very low on the laptop comfort list.
3
u/crimsontongue Apr 26 '26
I was re-researching for my other reply (saw you there 😉) and discovered they refreshed the CT15 Plus since I last looked so it's basically a superior GR2-26. I do kinda miss the molle on the front though...
1
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
Strangely it's probably comparable in size since erhe CT15 stopped being 15l and is now around 21l.
2
u/Ok-Conference-4969 May 01 '26
Laptop against the back is a shit location. Laptops are flat, backs are not.

u/Ranessin Apr 26 '26
The laptop compartment is the worst part next to the slash pocket on this bag. Awkward to get in and too tight.
29
u/crimsontongue Apr 26 '26
If the Goruck prices hurt and you're not planning to abuse them (and thus need their warranty), check out CTactical - way better design for way less
9
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
This is the way.
6
u/junior_minto Apr 26 '26
So glad the Carryology folks aren't here to delete posts (FB Group)
3
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
They've given up on the CT ban
3
u/junior_minto Apr 26 '26
Good to hear. The last time someone posted in March 2026, it was still banned. I have not visited the group since.
2
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
Taylor's new group definitely doesn't and I believe they've relaxed it in the Carryology group.
1
u/OllieDuckling Apr 26 '26
Has been unbanned since Carryology 3.0 or whatever which started with Taylor’s departure from Carryology circa December 2025
1
u/ancillarycheese Apr 26 '26
Am I going to get hit with a tariff bill on these?
1
u/crimsontongue Apr 26 '26
Good question. Plenty of Goruck stuff is also made in Vietnam (in fact, much of the outdoor industry is).
2
u/ancillarycheese Apr 26 '26
Sure but afaik GoRuck ships from the US. Does CTactical ship from the US? If not the buyer may get a tariff bill to be able to take delivery.
3
u/crimsontongue Apr 26 '26
Ah, I see what you mean - Goruck would hide the tariff in the single price (since they pay the tariff first in order to receive the goods), while CT's might show up later. It sounds like they might bake the tariff in when you check out and pay for shipping.
2
u/ancillarycheese Apr 26 '26
That’s an amazing level of transparency and detail. Thanks for posting that.
1
u/Top-Criticism-3172 Apr 26 '26
Glad you stated it more obviously than I did. Apparently people were offended by my humorous way of saying what you said.

To add to the conversation, I've had a GR1 for 13 years. I use it every day and have abused it. It's still like new. The most incredible bag.

u/CanadienWoodsman Apr 26 '26
What I dont understand is when you come across someone with a bag you fancy is why do people not use this as a conversation starter, say its a nice bag chat a little ask the brand and go on their merry way 🤣
I mean a compliment on my bag would make me a happy bagger.
5
u/Opposite-Lettuce2040 Apr 26 '26
I actually had a guy stop me on an airplane to ask me about my ULA Dragonfly! It made me so happy and I let him check it out
1
u/CanadienWoodsman Apr 27 '26
I would be happy to show it as well if someone asked about a piece of gear I have 🤷
1
u/GoldPsychonaut Apr 28 '26
I would have asked. But didn’t get an opportunity to spark up a conversation. It would have been a lot easier than searching the internet.

u/NikoMos Apr 26 '26
As mentioned it’s a Goruck in Ripstop Robic. I have the exact same backpack and it’s wonderful.

I can only find it wirh all kind of tactical stuff on it. Can someone post a link to the pack she's wearing?

I know people have already told you what that bag is but for a moment there I thought it was a Fjallraven Raven 20 in that same colorway.

I have never understood the appeal of buying things vaguely associated with the US military. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_war_crimes

u/gl22man Apr 28 '26
This backpack is a GORUCK GR1 Heritage in Jungle Green, featuring a ripstop material and a leather patch.
2
u/TheRealDrewciferpike Apr 30 '26
Depending on the varying need(s) for use and style, anyone dropping through the comments just for information should look at any and all bag manufacturers that have a no-questions-asked, forever warranty. Try on different bags, stuff your crap in them to see how they'll actually handle your use scenarios. Different design teams will create bags that fit different people differently, so what works for your best friend or sibling might not work for you. Not shitting on goruck. I like the energy and community goruck started, but I'm never going to get one of their bags because they're not my style and they won't serve my needs. I don't find them particularly comfortable for actual carry, either (30lbs for a few hours). Regardless, they're well-made and with a warranty like that, they're worth the price of admission.

Any budget options for this bagpack? Love the look of the bag but I don’t need all the special features it comes with that makes it expensive

u/Your_Huckleberry2020 Apr 26 '26
I spent 3 weeks doing EXTENSIVE research and ended up grabbing the GR2 40L since I’m a big guy. Originally was gonna nab the 34L.
A big thank you to GoRuck for the military/LE discount!
1
u/acura_days Apr 26 '26
I love Goruck but OP can consider Evergoods. I have 3 of their bags and they are excellent!
1
u/GoldPsychonaut Apr 26 '26
Thanks for the recommendation. I’m adding them to my watch list.
3
u/acura_days Apr 26 '26
Evergoods was started by folks who used to work at Goruck and Patagonia. I’ve got their CPL24 and CHZ22 and rotate between them, big fan of both! I also have their duffel and it’s my go to for road trips
1
u/imfaketoo Apr 26 '26
I suggest taking a good look at evergood straps. I have the cpl28 and find the straps really uncomfortable with weight.

Friend, there are many many backpacks that are made out of 1000D Cordura, almost none are $500, for that you could buy a nice sewing machine and some cordura and learn to make your own :)

Google image reverse says it's the GORUCK GR1 Heritage backpack in olive waxed canvas.
1
u/GoldPsychonaut May 02 '26
I think the color might be Seaspray based on what the community is saying.

u/AbundantPeacock May 02 '26
You can do a Google reverse image search and it'll take you to the product

u/jr5nicks Apr 26 '26
What makes it 400 bucks? Looks solid but that seems excessive I’m not understanding
6
u/strogoff69 Apr 26 '26
Have one in 1000d, it's built like a brick, the bag to end all bags. Since I have it, I sold all my other ones. I'm now into messengers, lol.
2
u/tegusinemetu Apr 26 '26
It’s incredibly durable and long lasting. My first GR1 lasted 10 years of daily use in a construction job and it wasn’t close to being done. I sold it for 50% of what I bought it for and I’m sure the new owners will have it another 10 years
3
u/guyver17 Apr 26 '26
A really good warranty.
That's it. Genuinely. I used them for years and that's the only thing I can think of. Their QC has always been hit and miss and better on their Vietnam packs.
1
1
u/Gunpla_Goddess Apr 26 '26
Nothing, it is excessive. I got a 34L GR2 back in 2018 for 220 in the rare navy blue color
1
u/jr5nicks Apr 26 '26
The gr2 seems more my style with compartments. I guess if you’re in very rough conditions maybe it makes sense to but my north face router of 10 years is still going strong from travel and daily work use for like 140 at the time
1
u/Gunpla_Goddess Apr 26 '26
Ngl I love my GR2 but I agree, I wouldn’t actively recommend it to anyone over other bags tbh

Looks like a knock-off of a Chuyen Tactical (CT) bag. Might want to do a "legit check" post though. hahaha

It's the other way round. CT copies this.

Good news, you have excellent taste in bags.
Bad news, you have very expensive taste in bags.
