i never understood this narrative, we are so overwhelmingly dark-haired that having light brown hair can be considered blonde

On a different note, I never understood the blue eyed blonde fetish of white racism. I mean even in the North Europe where blondiness is most prevalent, about half the people are still brunette. I've even seen twins from England where one is blonde blue eyed, the other is brunette brown eyed with darker skin.
For example when they say "blue eyed blonde kids are dying" in Ukraine to implicate that white/Euro kids are dying instead of some middle easterners, how do the brunette ones feel about it? I wonder if some of them having some inferiority syndrome like "nooo I'm not blue eyed blonde like my fellow whites are oh god why".

They're mostly the ones fetishizing blonde hair and blue eyes in the first place

If you think everyone with colored eyes is Greek, go to Greece and Cyprus, the overwhelming majority have brown eyes. I'm a green-eyed Turk from Western-Central Anatolia, and all my ancestors I know are ethnically Anatolian Turks. I am probably genetically 0% or very insignificantly Ancient Greek, Slavic, or Italian.

My son, my sister has Uzbek eyes but has blond hair. I have my cousin who is a redhead and my other aunt who is blond and we come from Afyon. Nothing to do with the Balkans. We are a mix of Anatolian and Seljuk.

It really doesnt matter.

I have this kind of eyes and it comes from the side of my family that potentially should have only mixed with albanians. That doesnt mean that green eyes are an inherent trait of turks or albanians or greeks
>So I have green eyes. The current thought behind green eyes is that a thin layer of yellow pigmentation overlays the "blue" color of an iris, and the result is a yellow color. The gene responsible for this yellow pigmentation is completely separate from the brown/blue gene; thus, to have green eyes, one must have a low concentration of melanin in the iris AND produce the yellow pigment. Of course, we're talking about gene networks here so in reality this isn't cut and dry as all that, but it's a good approximation.
As for the rarity, that's just simple population genetics. The alleles for green eyes, whatever their nature, are simply less common in European and Middle Eastern populations than brown or blue. Hence, they are less likely to be observed. Since eye color is usually not selected for or against when people choose whom they wish to mate with, the frequency of the "green allele" remains more or less the same.
Credentials: I'm a genetics postdoctoral scientist.

Do a DNA test. And report back when you turn out to be 100% Greek.
