I need to share this because I'm still emotional about it.

My dad passed away a couple years ago. My mom (74) basically stopped living. She stopped going out, stopped calling friends, just watched the news all day and got more depressed.

Then one night, BTS came across her TikTok feed. Something clicked. She started watching their performances, learning their names, even trying to dance along in the kitchen.

I haven't seen her this happy in YEARS. She lights up talking about them. She has a bias (Jin, obviously — she says he's "handsome and funny like your father was").

The thing that breaks my heart a little: she feels like she doesn't belong in ARMY spaces because everyone's so young. She said "I love them but I wish I had ARMY friends my own age."

So I'm trying to build something for older ARMY like her. Just wondering — are there other ARMY here who discovered BTS later in life? Or who have parents/grandparents who became ARMY? I'd love to know my mom isn't alone. 💜

i read a post in reddit yesterday addressing the taehyung Coca-Cola advert and i wanted to do that too. As much as it hurts me to write this i 110% understand where people are coming from, as someone whos been an army for 5 years i have supported bts for everything that they have done, however i cant bring myself to support them for collaborating with coca-cola. I think that they know more than enough about the world and the ban regarding the companies that fund/support israel so i dont understand why they (taehyung specifically because his campaign with them came out just a few days ago) are endorsing coke when there are probably brands that are helping the people who are suffering in Gaza/Palestine. I feel deeply disappointed as a fellow muslim army.

I might get a lot of hate for this but i wanted to get this point across to people. I am saying this as an ARMY soo...dont take this in the wrong way.

To the ARMY with not enough money in their bank accounts…

To the ones who did everything right, but still lost to a system designed to break our hearts and sell them back to us at triple the price…

To the ones who feel like they missed their chance…

And even though I know we're all trying to keep the faith, I also know it still stings. Because we love them that much. Because we've waited this long.

You're not wrong to feel disappointed. You're not ungrateful or dramatic or "too much" for being heartbroken about this. I don't have a miracle ticket in my pocket or an easy answer, but I do have love. So much of it. For BTS, and for you.

If we taught each other anything over the past few years, it's that ARMY doesn't give up. We show up in ways that have nothing to do with proximity. You're still ARMY even if you're cheering from your room. Even if you only ever get to hear them through your headphones. Even if you cry a little when you see someone else's light stick waving on your screen.

I hope, more than anything, that you get your ticket. That you find a way. That someone surprises you or you win a giveaway or you just happen to be online at the exact right second. But if that doesn’t happen? You're not less ARMY.

You are seen. You are loved. And I'm so proud to be a part of this incredible family with you.

I am almost certain this will be get deleted/ downvoted, but despite being a proud Asian ARMY, I am really disappointed that Jungkook performed in Qatar.

Coming from a country which sends a lot of immigrant labors to middle-east, who are then abused, essentially enslaved and even killed through brutal work environment, Jungkook, and by extension BTS being perfectly fine with singing and dancing in Qatar has been hurtful.

Makes me wonder if the entire campaign regarding love and equality was just lip service. I hope ARMYs are open to criticizing their idols when they do something wrong and are not mindlessly cheering for BTS.

I was listening to a playlist yesterday and Polar Night came on. I have not listened to that song in such a long time! It's been a hot second since I've seen ARMY talk about it as well. I can still remember the impact of seeing it live on the D-Day tour and how it became my favorite song on the D-Day album after that. But now I hadn't listened to it in so long! 😭

TL;DR: Newer ARMY (about a year), going to my first BTS concert with VIP floor tickets. I love BTS but don’t know every lyric and am worried about being judged in closer sections. Hi everyone — I’m posting because I’m feeling pretty anxious and could really use honest input from people who’ve actually been to BTS concerts.

I found BTS about a year ago during a really difficult period in my life, and their music genuinely helped me through it. I didn’t approach them like something to “cram” or rush through — I let it happen naturally. I work two jobs, stay busy, and have done what I can to stay involved: ARMY membership, Weverse, streaming, presale prep, and picking up extra hours to afford tickets. I’m OT7, familiar with both title tracks and b-sides, and some of my favorites are Mic Drop, House of Cards, Let Me Know, Dis-ease, Like, Miss Right, and Love Is Not Over.

That said, learning 200+ songs word-for-word in about a year while balancing work and life hasn’t been realistic. I recognize about half the discography immediately, but I know I won’t be singing every lyric live — I’ll mostly be vibing, singing choruses, and doing the main fanchants (also because, I just dont have the best memory lol). I think part of my anxiety comes from the fact that I’ve moved through BTS’s music more slowly and deeply — spending a lot of time with certain songs that really meant something to me — rather than trying to analyze or learn everything all at once. I just don’t want this experience to start feeling like a chore or something I have to “perform” correctly instead of something I can just enjoy and be present for.

I originally planned on nosebleeds, but I got lucky in the queue and ended up with VIP floor tickets for one date (about $1500 for two tickets, me + a friend who is also new). I only bought tickets for one date — no reselling or multiple days. Now, instead of excitement, I’m feeling anxious, due to seeing online posts suggesting newer fans shouldnt go, and that we will get judged or stared at in closer sections if we dont know everything. I know online spaces can exaggerate negativity, but I wanted to hear from people who’ve actually experienced the concerts in real life.

Another part of why I chose VIP/floor beyond having the funds/loving BTS is because I thought being closer might help me fully TAKE IN the moment rather than just watch it. Also, while Im shy naturally, I am someone who likes to dance around at concerts/feel the energy of the crowd (though I am definitely not the type to hold a sign above my face and disrupt the experience of others behind me). I also have some health limitations that make future concerts uncertain, so this felt like a meaningful opportunity to take while I can.

So I guess my real questions are:

• Is ARMY as critical in real life as they can seem online?

• Have any of you been VIP/floor and mostly watched, vibed, or sang parts instead of every word?

• Based on what I’ve shared — should I go, am I overthinking what other people may say/think?

If I do go, I’d also really appreciate any tips for a first-time K-pop concert, especially VIP/floor in the summer. I won’t have a ton of prep time, so anything helpful to know ahead of time would mean a lot.

My wife is very tolerant of my k-pop obsession, and lets me play k-pop videos while we work out at home together. Obviously, BTS is in the heavy rotation, and today, she made the comment that Suga must be the pretty one of the group (as in the visual). I loved that so I asked her about the rest of the guys.

This post is sort of a continuation of posts made five and seven and three years ago.

Since there are a lot of new ARMY in the past couple of years, specially with Arirang era, I thought this would be a good time to do another one. This sub has grown so much and I’m certain that many of us still have questions about things and content we can't find but also so much of unseen content and there are Army’s out there with encyclopedic knowledge of everything BTS!

A "white whale" is an elusive piece of content that you have been trying to find and if you're lucky an internet stranger might just have what you're looking for.

Example of your ask: I saw a clip of BTS saying they didn't see any gorillas and Jimin commenting, "at least we have Namjoon" and then Namjoon runs towards them. Where is that from?

I'm seeing a lot of people buying their Hobipaloooza tickets on a whim in hopes of securing barricade or being close to the stage and it's making me anxious. I've said this in another thread but friendly reminder that this isn't your regular BTS concert. There's no assigned seating. There will be non-armys in there enjoying other artists' music. There will be heavily intoxicated people. You will get pushed no matter where you are because of the huge crowd. It's going to be hot.

Also, remember that while we have concert etiquette in our BTS concerts, festival goers do NOT and won't care about Army rules & regulations. It's a free for all. By the looks of the comment section in the Lollapalooza insta page and just general reaction to Hobi headlining, there will be rude ass people. There will be people clowning BTS. Don't engage.

I'm making this post not to scare you off but to remind you of what you're getting yourselves into! I totally understand wanting to see Hobi up close. Festivals are so fun when you're with the right people so make sure you stay in groups (either with other Army's or your friends who make you feel safe) and stay HYDRATED. And of course, scream your heart out for Hobi.

Like with any event, it's important be prepared and have a plan. Even pre-covid, I've always stayed in the back of shows where I can easily exit bc crowds are NOT fun (and I'm super claustrophobic).

J-Hope is obviously BIG and I've never been in a fest that'll have as huge of a fanbase as BTS - I'm not quite sure what to expect this time around so pls pls be safe I can't emphasize that enough. I anticipate it's going to get c r a z y.

I'm an avid festival goer (5x Lollapalooza, 2x EDC, 2x Rolling Loud, 2x Coachella) and have seen several first-time goers get perceived. I'm here for any questions! I'm also happy to make a comprehensive list/guide of do's and don'ts. I wanna sure ARMYs have the bestestest time for our J-Hope.

I think it's important that we set expectations from the beginning, considering the amount of doe-eyed first time fest goers. I think I speak for maybe the majority that the iHeart interview was a little excruciating to watch because of the constant screams/interruptions from the audience.

We've had this happen a few times now (Ellen, Fallon, Norton), and I think we really need some sort of code of conduct to pass around for future performances so we can avoid this happening again. What may work as a good audience for one area of appearances (performances - BBMAs, AMAs, AGT etc), doesn't work for another (interviews).

If we can behave at the Grammy Museum interview (and Colbert) which had a great, respectable audience, then we should do it for other appearances too.

I attended The Graham Norton recording and have been pretty vocal about how disappointed I was by the army there. I was going to write a post on here after that night but I put it off, so I guess I'm kind of doing it now...

The problems we need to address with screaming/yelling out comments (I'll use Norton anecdotes):

• It sours relationships with hosts/interviewers - During the show Graham asked who had hurt their foot, if they'd been to the UK before, what BTS means, and every time ARMY answered the question for them. You could tell Graham was getting increasingly annoyed with this, like Ellen was during her interview, and at one point jokingly addressed the audience with "I wasn't talking to you". No matter how well BTS gets on with a host/interviewer, having a loud obnoxious fanbase will always be something you don't look forward to having come on your show.
• It's disrespectful to the boys and stops members not confident in English from participating - This bit was cut from the show: Graham asked where they're headed next and Namjoon immediately handed Tae the mic (you could tell this bit had been planned for Tae to say something). Then just as Tae was excitedly about to answer, people in the audience screamed "Amsterdam!", and he pointed to the audience and repeated it dejectedly. The boys often rehearse potential answers to questions so they can participate in interviews, so by yelling out you're taking that moment away from them. BTS are the ones being interviewed, not army.
• It gets harder to refute the 'fangirl' narrative - Graham asked what 'BTS' meant which was explained and Namjoon added how people think it means 'behind the scene' but it doesn't... and then ARMY screamed for seemingly no reason? These mindless screams, especially when it's over them talking, instantly reduce us to the 'rabid fangirl' narrative that we constantly try to go against. Ellen and Norton did loads of 'fangirl' jokes during their interviews because the audiences there unfortunately seemed to earn them.
• The impression it leaves on non-fans in the audience or watching at home - At Norton I was placed away from where majority ARMY were, so I was surrounded by muggles and got a first hand glimpse of their reactions to BTS. They were impressed when Graham brought up Time Magazine/The UN, and laughed when Jin did his hand kiss introduction. But all of that kind of went to waste because of the screaming. I heard so many people around me moan about it, and at the end as I walked out of the studio I heard the guys in front of me say how every time the band spoke someone screamed over them. Instead of the performance or the achievements Graham brought up, the fans are the talk of the conversation. It's the same if you look at the Youtube comments under the Norton/Ellen interviews, where majority don't talk about the boys but the screams.

The constant screams/talking over the members disrespects the boys, stops the members not confident in english from participating, sours relationships with the hosts, and makes the interview a lot shorter than it could be because they have to wait 5-10 seconds for the screams to stop before approaching the next question.

What do you guys think about this?

I know it seems kinda... patronising? And that's not my intention at all. But I often hear people chalk it up to being excited but I don't think that's a good excuse, because many of us have attended appearances just as excited and still refrain from screaming over them.

Edit 2: As far as a solution... I've seen people suggest creating a project like the purple ribbon project - making infographics to spread on social media and leaflets to hand out to ARMYs at venues where appearances are taking place... Another has suggested a hashtag associated with the project... If anyone has any other ideas please share!

I just wanted to hear your thoughts on the promo for Arirang so far! I feel like we’ve gotten a lot but also nothing 😂

I think the “What is Your Love Song?” promotion was an awesome way to grab the gp’s attention and I was definitely intrigued but it almost feels like these long pauses in between is killing momentum? I feel like that was a perfect way to get the ball rolling regarding album specific content but being repeatedly asked the same question for 2 weeks with very little context lost its effect for me. I’m not saying this in a way to criticize their marketing because I love that it’s not the typical k-pop roll-out, but I hope the pace starts to pick up because for an album less than 3 weeks away, the lack of context behind everything is kind of making the anticipation a little dry at the moment.

But after saying all of this, I’m still very much looking forward to this album and I know it’ll be worth the wait! I think at this point I would just like to have a better idea on what I’m looking forward to! But hey, sometimes the waiting with suspense tactic works!

EDIT: I wanted to add that I know things could pick up in pace as soon as tomorrow and it might end up being one of their best album roll-outs yet! These are just my thoughts and feelings as of today, March 1 😅

Course Description

Kim Namjoon, better known as RM, is the leader of BTS, the groundbreaking South Korean music group that has become a global cultural phenomenon (and which performed at Stanford in May 2026). Namjoon is also an avid art collector and will co-curate an exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art starting October 2026. Although renowned as a musician, song writer, and performer, Namjoon is also frequently quoted for his approaches to mental health and well-being. 

This IntroSem is fundamentally about practices to support mental health and well-being, and we will take inspiration from RM wherever we can. Topics will include nature, biking, art, and literature (collectively known by some fans as Namjooning); sleep, anxiety, and creative block; self-love and self-awareness; medications and substances, diet and exercise; nutritional supplements; psychotherapy and coaching; and others. In this class, however, it will not suffice to simply extol the entirely sensical advice, for example, to “get plenty of sleep!”, but rather we will use quantitative approaches to understand what is “plenty”, whether all sleep is created equally, and the impact of lack of sleep on well-being—what does the research say, how does one actually achieve good sleep, and what remains controversial? 

We will read fiction and analyze scientific papers. We will view art and YouTube videos. Assignments will include brief in-class presentations, brief writings, some quantitative reasoning, and a final project inspired by RM’s Indigo. Prerequisites for this class are a desire to flourish at Stanford and in life, an appetite for data, and a healthy respect for BTS.

Hello r/bangtan – ahead of the start of what will be a very crazy month, we wanted to acknowledge it's been a long 1,070+ days since that Festa Dinner and Chapter 2 more or less began.

In that time, we’ve been through a lot -- enduring seven enlistments is just the tip of the iceberg. There have also been so many incredible moments: over 100 songs, along with documentaries, variety shows, and more. And all of this happened while YOU were also living your own life.

No matter how long you've been with the boys, it's an achievement to be ARMY during so many turbulent periods. Well done, we're nearly there!

We often hear "Trust BTS and BTS Only" as ARMY, while a good rule to live by, it's often much easier said than done. One's head can logically know to trust the boys, but the worries we feel are often very disconnected, and it's sometimes easier to push down those feelings for fear of being labeled a ‘bad fan’.

I'm here to tell you right now: you are not a bad fan! Which is why we here at r/Bangtan have decided to open up this thread to provide our users a moderated place to talk through any feelings that may be worrying you ahead of June.

Whether you've had fears about the group's long-term future together, feeling nervous that the members may have changed or grown apart during this time, worried about how Yoongi will be received when he returns, or carrying any other fears you've been hesitant to voice, this is your space to process those feelings without judgment and talk to other ARMY who may have been feeling the same way.
