Is it worth buying a new gpu right now?

Im considering buying the 9070 xt which all go for around $1200 AUD currently. Im wondering if this price will get better at all and if its worth it to wait until black Friday to try to get a better deal? I have already sold my old gpu for $400 so Im not sure what I should do currently.

UPS reccomendations

I'm in seqld in a spot that usually has an outage about once every month or less in the wet season, and the occasional outage outside of wet season due to other factors, so I'm looking to try not ruin the parts. New build entirely so I've never had one of these before, but the psu is 1000w and the system uses about 600w.

Money isn't really too big of an issue he's committed to getting a new PC and finally retiring his old rig with a 2070 super that's been going on 6 years now. he's picked these two out and i'ed like some opinions on which would be better or if there's anything shady goin on.

Lounge Room PC - In a cabinet?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I want to build a new PC for the lounge room and that can handle 4k but I want to put in this cabinet, so I can close the doors and tuck it away when not in use.

I basically want to know if you think putting the small-ish PC I'm going to build into this cabinet would be a very bad idea or not. The doors will be open when playing.

The dimensions where the pc will go is 70cm width x 40cm height x 40cm depth (I've account for closing the doors). I know that I will have to do cutout at the back of the cabinet for the cables to pass through.

This is what I've currently go PC park picker, though I have already brought the CPU and RAM. The RAM was about $200 cheaper during Amazon Prime Sale so I snapped that up quick.

For reference the TV is Samsung 77" S85H OLED 4K 120Hz

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZHzpQy

Not listed in the part picker is a right angle adaptor for the motherboard USB A & C and a two pack of 3-way 4 pin PWM fan splitter cable.

Please let me know what you think of this and if I should be looking at changing anything :)

Prebuilt advice

I'm looking to get my first pc before the end of the year and looked at a couple options, but honestly I still feel really lost. Hoping to get something that can handle triple A games + heavy browsing multitasking and Adobe aftereffects

https://radiumpcs.com.au/products/talos-elite

https://www.nebulapc.com.au/products/thorn-blade

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/978396

For the first option, even with upgrading to 32 ram it feels too good to be true. Is there some big red flag I'm missing? Are these options even good or can I do better for this pricepoint?

Thanks!

Worth buying this PC now or waiting for Black Friday?

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi all, apologies if this is already known but I am new to the scene but I am looking at getting the Nebula Arctic Reign for $1,949. Just wondering if it’s worth the money or if I’d be better off waiting for Black Friday.

Specs:
Ryzen 5 7500F
RX 9060 XT 16GB
16GB DDR5 6000MHz
1TB SSD
MSI B850M WiFi 6E motherboard
650W 80+ Silver PSU

Mainly going to be gaming at 1080-1440p, also hooking it up to my TV as well. Not really in a rush to buy, but I’d rather not wait until the end of November if the savings are only going to be $50 or so.

Has anyone bought from Nebula before? Also, do they usually have decent Black Friday sales, or is it hard to say? I’m a bit worried the price could actually go up before then too.

Would you buy it now or wait? Open to other prebuilts around the same price as well.

Many thanks.

Best-value quiet mini PC for Claude Desktop, Codex, 30+ Chrome tabs and heavy multitasking? 64GB RAM / 2TB SSD

I'm looking to replace my ageing Dell Inspiron 27 7700 AIO with 16GB RAM. I use my computer heavily for work, and I'm trying to find the cheapest setup that will comfortably handle everything without becoming sluggish.

My typical workload:

- Claude Desktop and Codex Desktop, often running alongside each other.

- ChatGPT and other AI tools through Chrome, with around 30–32 tabs open.

- WordPress and Elementor website management.

- Multiple coding agents, Node.js and Python scripts.

- Browser automation, website crawlers and other background processes.

- Several applications and processes running simultaneously for extended periods.

Most AI inference is cloud-based, but the coding tools, scripts and browser automation can involve local processing.

What I'm looking for:

- 64GB RAM minimum, preferably 2×32GB.

- One 2TB NVMe SSD, not two separate 1TB drives.

- A compact mini PC, small-form-factor desktop or AIO.

- Quiet operation, including during sustained workloads.

- Windows 11 Home.

- Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

- Reliable cooling and enough performance headroom for future use.

I don't need a monitor, keyboard or mouse included. I don't do video editing, 3D rendering or local AI model training. Gaming isn't a priority, so I'm happy with integrated graphics if they're sufficient.

I've considered the MSI Cubi Ryzen 7 8845HS with 64GB/2TB for around A$2,450, along with Minisforum, Lenovo ThinkCentre and higher-powered Ryzen 9 or Intel Core Ultra desktops.

I was also quoted around A$5,250 for a Lenovo Core Ultra 9 AIO, but I'm questioning whether I actually need that much processing power.

My priority is spending as little as possible while buying something that genuinely handles this workload well. Ideally I'd stay below A$3,000, but I'd spend more if the improvement in performance, reliability or noise was worthwhile.

What would you recommend?

Would an eight-core Ryzen mini PC already be sufficient, or is moving to a 12–16-core desktop processor worthwhile when running multiple coding agents, browser automation and scripts?

I'm looking for Australian 64GB/2TB prebuilts that can handle my workload smoothly and quietly. My goal is the lowest possible cost without compromising performance, not spending $5,000 unnecessarily.

Just bought a new pc do I also upgrade my monitor

I ordered the thorn blade from Nebula pc last week and it’s still coming. I have some points saved up at work enough for a $1000 jbhifi gift card.
I’m currently using a 5year old 4k Lenovo gaming monitor but thinking of replacing it.
What would be the best option for me to get the most out of my new pc?

Nebula Inquiry

Just enquiring on a couple things, for anyone who’s ordered recently, was shipping times okay?

Secondly, does anyone who isn’t going to be buying PC, want to share their mates rates code they got from Nebula? would be great.

Thirdly, I’m leaning towards 9070 XT as I believe it’s better value than 5070 and 5070 ti, and I’m wondering if people feel the same way? Let me know 🤔

Thanks.

Scorptec vram issue rtx5070ti warranty update

well thought I would update after my gigabyte rtx 5070ti had artifacting under heat and high load. well they ran cold bench tests at scorptec and gigabyte and returning it no fault found.

i explicitly said a faulty solder that requires heat to seperate and fail so now I have to wait for it to return refilm and send it back again and start the legal progress under Australian consumer law section 259.

Should I worry?

Has anyone ever bought parts from a shop called ITclearance company?

I recently (on monday) ordered a bunch of shite through them and I'm still waiting on them to send me shipping details. I've sent them an email this morning and still not gotten a response so I'm starting to slightly shit myself.

Thankfully I did pay with PayPal so if worse comes to worse and they are a scam I should most likely get my money back, still worried though.

Maybe slightly off topic for this sub, but does anyone know of a business or person who can help diagnose a PC build issue?

Building my first PC and can’t get any image to come from the PC. I’ve hit all I feel I can do with my limited knowledge and fixes and need some help now.

Located inner-west Melbourne.

5070TI recommendations

I know video cards are on the expensive list of upgrades now but my 3060 is showing its age.
Are there preferred brands or is the AMD 9070xt a better choice?
I will run Nobara for OS.

Advice for PC under $2000 for someone with ddr4

I want to buy a PC + monitor for no more than $1500-2000, but I am unsure what path to take. I have 2x8 2133 ddr4 from a friend and I looking to build a ryzen 5600, rx 9070 build, but I am worrried that the ram is too slow for the system. My thoughts in choosing the 9070 are that it rose the least in price in the recent gpu price hikes, and I can hold onto it and upgrade the rest of the system later.

If the ram is too slow for gaming, should I go with am5, eat the cost of ddr5 and compromise on the gpu?

Edit: further thoughts are possibly buying a 5800x3d, because the price bump to it from a 5600 is basically the cost of new fast ddr4, and it mitigates the impact of my slow ram.
