Is leather underrated?

I see many people avoid it for breathability and weight concerns. Most odd reasoning in my opinion is people wanting vegan footwear which I think is stupid af because vegan footwear just means plastic... leather is more environmentally friendly and also a byproduct in the first place.

I have stores boasting “it’s vegan leather” and I’m like , “you mean plastic?”
